Sony’s new recommended retail prices for the PS5, PS5 Digital Edition, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal took effect in the UK and Europe on April 2, 2026. The listed UK prices range from £519.99 for the Digital Edition to £789.99 for PS5 Pro; in Europe, they range from €599.99 to €899.99. These are Sony’s recommended prices, not guaranteed prices at every retailer.
New UK and Europe PS5 prices
Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the changes on March 27, 2026. The following recommended retail prices (RRPs) took effect on April 2, 2026:

What is included in the announcement?
PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition
Sony lists separate prices for the PS5 and the Digital Edition. Compare like with like: the two editions have distinct RRPs, and the table does not establish the features or contents of any retailer bundle.

PS5 Pro is listed separately from the standard PS5 models, at £789.99 in the UK and €899.99 in Europe.
PlayStation Portal
Portal is a remote player, not a PS5 console. Sony included it in the same announcement and assigned it its own RRP: £219.99 in the UK and €249.99 in Europe.

Why did Sony raise prices?
In the announcement, Isabelle Tomatis, Sony Interactive Entertainment’s vice president of global marketing, attributed the decision to “continued pressures in the global economic landscape.” She said Sony considered the impact on players and described the increase as necessary to continue delivering gaming experiences. This is Sony’s stated rationale; the announcement does not quantify the pressures or identify a more specific cause.

The 2026 increase is broader than Sony’s April 2025 notice. That notice raised the Digital Edition’s RRP in the UK and Europe effective April 14, 2025, while saying standard PS5 prices in those markets were unchanged and PS5 Pro RRPs remained unchanged. Sony also announced price increases in selected markets in August 2022, including changes for both disc and digital PS5 editions in the UK and Europe. Those earlier notices describe separate changes and should not be used as the current prices.
