The roughly $115 price refers to Canadian third-party listings for certain Nintendo Switch 2 Editions—not a confirmed U.S. price or a universal price for upgraded older games. If you already own a supported Switch game, you may be able to buy only its upgrade pack instead of paying for the full edition again.
What the $115 figure actually refers to
NT Deals Canada listed The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition and Super Mario Party Jamboree – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Jamboree TV at C$114.99. That is a third-party Canadian catalog listing; it is not confirmation of a current official Nintendo Canada price. Nintendo’s separate pricing notice says a different MSRP will apply, beginning in May 2026, to digital versions of new Nintendo-published games exclusive to Switch 2 compared with their physical versions. What a Switch 2 Edition includes
Nintendo defines a Switch 2 Edition as the original Nintendo Switch game bundled with its upgrade pack. The pack differs by title: it may improve visuals or performance, add features or modes, or include new story content. How to avoid paying for the game twice
If you already own the original Switch game, check whether Nintendo offers an upgrade pack for it. Owners of eligible physical or digital copies can buy the pack through Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Store, or participating retailers. Some upgrade packs are also available at no additional cost to active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members who own the underlying game. Nintendo lists the packs for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom among those eligible. Compare the full edition with the upgrade pack before buying. The right choice depends on your region’s current prices, whether you already own the Switch game, the specific additions you want, any eligible Expansion Pack benefit, and whether you have a Switch 2 to use the new features. A full edition bundles the original game and upgrade; an upgrade pack is the relevant route for an existing owner. Since the upgrade contents are not uniform, judge the cost against that game’s additions rather than assuming every edition offers the same value.
