Contemporary accounts report that the business was sold to One2One, but they give materially different figures: about £78 million in one account and £36.5 million in others. Jordan later bought Crystal Palace for £10.6 million in 2000. A reliable current net-worth figure or talkSPORT salary has not been established, so online estimates should not be treated as verified facts.
How did Simon Jordan make his money?
Jordan and Andrew Briggs founded The Pocket Phone Shop in 1994, each putting in £15,000. The mobile-phone retail business became the source of Jordan’s first major fortune. Contemporary reporting says it was sold to One2One, but does not provide a single consistent sale figure.
| Reported figure | What the contemporary account says |
|---|---|
| About £78 million | The Independent reported the sale at about this amount. |
| £36.5 million | Other contemporary accounts cite this as the transaction figure. |
These reported amounts differ, and the available accounts do not establish a definitive reconciliation. Neither figure should automatically be read as Jordan’s personal proceeds: the reports describe the company sale, not an audited breakdown of what each founder received after any transaction terms, taxes or other costs.
What is Simon Jordan’s net worth?
No audited current net-worth figure is established by the available reporting. Online estimates vary, but without supporting financial records they are not reliable evidence of Jordan’s present assets and liabilities. The reported phone-company sale price, the amount he later put into Crystal Palace and his current net worth are different measures; one cannot be used as a substitute for another.

What was Simon Jordan’s talkSPORT salary?
Jordan’s broadcasting role at talkSPORT is documented, but no reliable source here establishes his salary or other compensation. Figures circulating online should therefore be treated as unverified rather than stated as fact.
When did Simon Jordan own Crystal Palace?
Jordan completed his £10.6 million purchase of Crystal Palace in 2000, aged 32, after selling the phone business. The Guardian reported the purchase at the time. He chaired the club through a period that included promotion to the Premier League in 2004–05 and relegation after one season. His chairmanship ended when the club entered administration in January 2010.

On 28 January 2010, the Football League applied a 10-point deduction following the administration. The Guardian reported that the club had debts of about £30 million and described Jordan’s efforts to secure new investment. Administrator Brendan Guilfoyle said, as quoted by the Guardian: “Our role now is to find a buyer quickly to provide certainty for the employees, players and fans for the future.”
What do the Palace funding figures mean?
Reports and public statements describe substantial Jordan funding or exposure, but they do not establish one audited total loss. The Guardian’s administration coverage reported club debts of about £30 million. In a 2010 parliamentary debate, a member of Parliament said Jordan had “sunk £35 million into the club” and was “obviously the club’s biggest creditor.” That is a parliamentary statement, not an independently audited accounting of Jordan’s net loss. The figures refer to different claims and should not be combined into a single definitive amount.

Companies House records show the end of administration in 2011 for Crystal Palace FC (2000) Ltd. That company-record milestone is distinct from Jordan’s earlier purchase and his tenure as chairman.

The clearest documented business milestone is The Pocket Phone Shop, which he co-founded with Briggs. In a 2006 account of Jordan’s post-phone-company ventures, the Guardian discussed his interest in buying businesses he enjoyed and his involvement with the car magazine Octane and The Club bar. Those are historical associations; they do not establish that he currently owns either venture.
