The company raised its full-year 2026 guidance to $10.92–$11.32 in diluted EPS, including $0.81 per share of Valspar acquisition-related amortization and $0.07 per share of severance and other restructuring expenses. Its adjusted diluted EPS guidance was raised to $11.80–$12.20. The two ranges use different earnings bases and should not be treated as interchangeable. The company’s Q2 2026 results release filed with the SEC also said management expected continuing demand softness in the second half and described broad-based cost inflation in raw materials, energy, logistics, and packaging. The release said an 8% Paint Stores Group price increase was scheduled to take effect September 1.

Petz said: “While customer sentiment and the leading indicators we track point to continued demand softness in the second half, we remain focused on the actions within our control.” These company statements provide operating context; they do not explain the details of Goldman Sachs’ valuation beyond the rationale attributed to Fischer.
