Sheffield Wednesday’s sale was completed in May 2026, with Arise Capital Partners LLC, a consortium led by David Storch, taking ownership. Before that deal, James Bord’s consortium was named preferred bidder, while several other individuals were linked to a possible takeover in media reports. Those names did not all make formal bids, and the public record does not establish a complete list of interested parties.
Who bought Sheffield Wednesday?
Arise Capital Partners LLC completed its purchase of Sheffield Wednesday in May 2026. The consortium was led by David Storch and included Michael Storch and Tom Costin. On 2 May, the English Football League said the administrators had formally concluded an agreement with Arise, that the club had met the League’s requirements under its new ownership, and that it was no longer in administration. Joint administrator BTG confirmed on 5 May that the sale had completed. The final sale price was not stated in those announcements. EFL announcement · BTG completion announcement
The EFL also decided not to impose the 15-point deduction associated with the club’s exit from administration. BTG said Wednesday would start the upcoming season on zero points. EFL announcement · BTG completion announcement

How the sale process developed
April 2025: Chansiri’s account of offers
At a Supporters Engagement Panel meeting on 15 April 2025, then-owner Dejphon Chansiri said he had received no formal offers with proof of funds at that point. The club’s meeting notes record him saying that “anyone can say they are in the market but without any official offer they cannot be treated as genuine.” This was his account at that meeting, months before the administration and the later sale process; it does not establish that no approaches or bids came afterward. October–December 2025: reported interest and bids
FourFourTwo linked John Textor with a prospective takeover in October, but the report does not prove he submitted a qualified bid or entered the formal process. In December, the same publication reported Mike Ashley as associated with one of three bids still in contention. These reports identify different levels of involvement and should not be treated as equivalent to the later preferred-bidder status or completed sale. FourFourTwo reporting

February–May 2026: Arise became preferred bidder and completed the deal
After the Bord group withdrew, BBC reported that the consortium led by David Storch remained interested. By 11 March, Arise Capital Partners had entered an exclusive negotiation period as preferred bidder, with Storch, his son Michael and Tom Costin at the helm. In an interview while the deal was still prospective, Storch told BBC Radio Sheffield: “I am very sincere when I say the fans will own the club, we will be the custodians.” The purchase was subsequently confirmed as complete by the EFL and BTG in May. At completion, Storch said: “We know trust must be earned.” BBC, 25 February 2026 · BBC, 11 March 2026 · EFL, 2 May 2026 · BTG, 5 May 2026
