Sheffield Wednesday’s takeover by Arise Capital Partners LLC was confirmed in May 2026, but that does not establish who owns Hillsborough. Sport Resolutions identified a separate company, Sheffield 3 Limited, as the stadium owner when it entered administration on 24 October 2025. Companies House lists Sheffield 5 Limited as Sheffield 3’s person with significant control, but that entry does not prove who currently holds title to the ground.
Who owns Sheffield Wednesday now?
On 2 May 2026, the English Football League (EFL) confirmed that administrators had concluded an agreement with Arise Capital Partners LLC for the transfer of club assets and Sheffield Wednesday’s new ownership. The EFL named consortium members David Storch, Michael Storch and Tom Costin. BBC Sport reported that the paperwork was completed on 1 May and that Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership of the club ended.
Those announcements establish the change in ownership of the club. They do not say that Hillsborough, its land, or the company associated with it was part of the transaction. A football-club takeover and ownership of the ground are separate questions unless transaction or property records connect them.
Who owned Hillsborough through a company?
In a decision dated 17 December 2025, Sport Resolutions described Sheffield 3 Limited as “the entity that owns the stadium” where Sheffield Wednesday played its competitive fixtures. The decision records that Sheffield 3 Limited filed a notice to appoint administrators on 24 October 2025, the same date Sheffield Wednesday Football Club Limited filed its own notice.

That is evidence of the stadium company’s role at that time, not proof of the current registered proprietor of the land. A company’s position can change during administration, including through a sale or transfer of an asset.
What do the company records establish?

Did the new owners buy Hillsborough?
The EFL’s announcement concerns an agreement for the transfer of club assets and new club ownership. It does not state that Sheffield 3 Limited or the stadium itself was included. The Companies House records listed above document administration-related filings, but they do not supply a stadium sale or transfer record.

It would therefore go beyond the available evidence to say that Arise owns Hillsborough, that Chansiri still owns it, or that Sheffield 5 Limited owns the ground. Sheffield 5’s recorded control of Sheffield 3 is relevant corporate information, but it is not a substitute for checking the property title and any later transactions.

A current HM Land Registry title register for the relevant Hillsborough parcels would identify the registered proprietor. To understand how the title came to be held that way, it should be read alongside the latest Sheffield 3 Limited administrator’s report and any sale or transfer documentation. The named company and its control can help trace the ownership structure, but neither answers the land-title question on its own.

For readers comparing reports, check four things: whether the record concerns the club company or Sheffield 3 Limited; whether it refers to club operations or the stadium land; the date it describes; and whether it is a league announcement, a company filing, an administrator’s document or a Land Registry title. These records answer different questions and should not be treated as interchangeable.
