There is no verified Red Bull-specific statement from Dejphon Chansiri or confirmed Red Bull bid in the available reporting. A BBC Sport report from 12 April 2025 quoted Chansiri saying there was “no substantial interest” in buying Sheffield Wednesday, but it did not connect that remark to Red Bull. Later reports concerned other offers and the club’s wider sale process, not proof that Red Bull made an offer.

What did Chansiri say about Red Bull?

The Red Bull-specific wording and date implied by the rumour headline are not established by the available sources. BBC Sport reported on 12 April 2025 that Chansiri said there had been “no substantial interest” in buying Sheffield Wednesday. The report does not mention Red Bull, so the comment should not be presented as either a direct denial of Red Bull interest or confirmation of a conversation with the company. BBC Sport’s 12 April report provides general context about buyer interest, not a Red Bull-specific answer.

Was Red Bull interested in buying Sheffield Wednesday?

The sources available here do not verify that Red Bull made an offer or was a confirmed bidder. That is different from proving the company had no interest: without a Red Bull statement or reliable reporting identifying it as a bidder, the responsible conclusion is that a Red Bull takeover remains unconfirmed.

It is also important to separate an expression of interest, a reported approach, and a formal offer. The later BBC reporting identified other sale discussions and named John Textor as having publicly confirmed interest in taking over or partnering with Wednesday; it did not identify Red Bull as a bidder.

What happened in the club’s later sale process?

September 2025: reported offers and valuation

On 3 September 2025, BBC Sport reported that Chansiri had turned down two earlier offers, reported as £40m and £30m, and that his valuation was understood to be about £100m. Those figures were reported in the context of the club’s general sale discussions. They do not establish that either offer came from Red Bull. BBC Sport’s September 2025 report also discussed John Textor’s publicly stated interest, not a Red Bull bid.

June 2025: EFL action over wage payments

On 3 June 2025, the English Football League published a statement concerning Sheffield Wednesday and Chansiri. The statement addressed charges relating to late payment of player wages in March and May 2025. This is relevant to the club’s financial and regulatory context, but it is not evidence of Red Bull interest or a takeover offer. The EFL statement is the primary source.

October 2025: administration

On 24 October 2025, The Guardian reported that Sheffield Wednesday and the company that owns Hillsborough had entered administration. Administrators took over operations and began looking for a new owner. This later development changed the club’s ownership context; it should not be read back as confirmation of any Red Bull claim made earlier. The Guardian’s report describes the administration and search for a buyer.

June 2026: Arise Consortium mentioned by the club

A Sheffield Wednesday partnership document dated 15 June 2026 describes Arise Consortium as having stepped forward in the club’s ownership story. The document is promotional material rather than a detailed legal record of a transaction, so it should not be treated as a complete account of the club’s legal ownership. It also does not establish a Red Bull bid. The club’s partnership document gives its own description of the consortium’s role.

How to read the rumour against the timeline

  • 12 April 2025: Chansiri’s reported “no substantial interest” comment referred to buyer interest generally; BBC Sport did not link it to Red Bull.
  • 3 June 2025: The EFL issued a statement concerning wage-payment charges.
  • 3 September 2025: BBC Sport reported two rejected offers and an understood valuation, without identifying Red Bull as a bidder.
  • 24 October 2025: The club and Hillsborough-owning company entered administration, according to The Guardian, and administrators sought a new owner.
  • 15 June 2026: A club partnership document referred to Arise Consortium’s role in the ownership story.

These are distinct events. Later reports on offers, administration, or a consortium do not verify what Chansiri said about Red Bull at an earlier date. On the evidence cited here, the headline’s Red Bull-specific claim cannot be confirmed.
