Their joint venture, Service Athletic Global Footwear (Private) Limited, was incorporated on 7 May 2026, with Service Global holding 51% and Golden Star 49%. The company’s latest disclosed update does not give a date for full commercial production.
What is the project’s current status?
Service Global Footwear Limited (SGFL) reported in its half-year 2026 filing that the joint venture had been incorporated and was conducting trial production while training its workforce. The update, dated 27 August 2026, is a step beyond the earlier approval and proposal stage, but it does not establish that the factory has begun regular commercial production. SGFL’s half-year 2026 report describes product-quality preparation as part of the work underway.
The company’s directors said that “Geopolitical uncertainty and temporary customer destocking have slowed industry-wide order placements. We expect a gradual recovery as conditions normalize. Meanwhile, trial production and workforce training are underway to bring product quality in line with international benchmarks.” The expected recovery is the directors’ outlook, not a guaranteed industry forecast.
Who owns the joint venture, and how is it funded?
Service Athletic Global Footwear is an SGFL subsidiary. The 51%/49% share split gives SGFL the majority stake; Golden Star Footwear Group Limited (GSFGL) holds the remaining 49%.

SGFL’s 2025 annual report put Phase 1 project cost at an estimated US$6.5 million, with financing planned through equity contributions from the partners in proportion to their ownership. It disclosed SGFL’s maximum contribution as the equivalent of US$3.315 million in Pakistani rupees. Separately, shareholders approved a long-term equity investment by SGFL of up to PKR 1 billion in the new company. Where is the facility, and what has been disclosed about it?
The planned site is next to SGFL’s existing production facility at 10 km Muridke–Sheikhupura Road, Muridke, Punjab. The 2025 annual report describes a plot of approximately 12,710 square metres (136,816 square feet) and 79,760 square feet of covered building area. It said the building had been constructed for warehouse use as of the reporting date.

The approval chronology in that report records board approval of the land lease on 20 January 2026 and shareholder approval of the building lease on 27 February 2026. The disclosed site and approvals help explain the project’s physical setup, but do not by themselves indicate that production is at commercial scale.
What footwear is the venture expected to make?
The 2025 annual report described the planned business as manufacturing and selling sneakers, athletic footwear, or other footwear in Pakistan and for export. Business Recorder’s January 2026 coverage summarized the original product angle as non-leather footwear. The later SGFL interim filing describes a broader permitted scope: footwear made from leather, rubber, canvas, rexine, synthetic, plastic, and other materials.

That permitted scope is not a confirmed product catalog. The current filing confirms trial production, but does not identify finalized models, specific materials used in trial runs, customer orders, export destinations, or a consumer retail channel.

SGFL’s reviewed filings do not state the factory’s installed capacity or annual pair output, a commercial production start date, customer names, confirmed export markets, or employment totals. They also do not quantify the scale of trial production or workforce training. A project-branded shoe range, retail availability, and product prices have not been disclosed in these materials.
