The latest month listed on AMFI’s monthly report page is August 2026, so the September figures and record claim should be treated as unverified.
What is confirmed—and what is not
AMFI is the primary source for monthly mutual-fund scheme data, including inflows, outflows, net flows, assets under management and average assets under management. SEBI’s directory points to AMFI’s monthly dataset. The AMFI page available for this report lists August 2026 as the latest month in FY 2026–27; it does not establish September’s totals.

- September equity net inflows of Rs 38,306 crore: not verified by the available AMFI listing or the cited reports.
- A 31% month-on-month increase: not verified. The claim needs a confirmed September figure and a clearly identified comparison month.
- A September small-cap record: not verified. A record requires both the September category total and a stated historical comparison period.
These are evidence limits, not proof that the claims are false. They should not be presented as established data unless the September AMFI report or equivalent primary data confirms them.
What the latest reported month shows
Equity mutual funds
News On AIR, reporting AMFI data, put August 2026 equity mutual-fund net inflows at Rs 29,329 crore, compared with Rs 24,697 crore in July 2026. These are net-flow figures: subscriptions after outflows, rather than gross purchases alone.

Small-cap funds
Moneycontrol reported August 2026 small-cap net inflows of Rs 7,973.33 crore. It described that as the highest among equity categories and the largest monthly reading in its January–August series. That comparison does not establish a September record or a record over any period beyond the one stated.
How to read a September inflow report
Once September data is published, check the basis of each number before comparing it with August or calling it a record:
Rank #2
- Confirm the reporting month and source. Use the September AMFI monthly report for the underlying scheme data; secondary coverage can provide context but should not substitute for an unverified primary total.
- Check that the figure is net flow. Net inflows account for outflows. Gross subscriptions measure purchases before redemptions and are not interchangeable.
- Match the category definition. Compare the same AMFI equity and small-cap categories across months, not an overall industry total with a single category.
- Verify the month-on-month calculation. Identify the preceding month used as the base and calculate the change from comparable net-flow totals.
- Define “record.” State the period covered by the historical comparison. A high in a January–September series is not automatically an all-time record.
What fund flows can—and cannot—tell investors
Category-level net flows indicate how much money entered or left funds over a reporting period. They do not, by themselves, establish that a category is attractive, that its funds will outperform, or that a particular fund suits an investor. Aggregate flow figures are a measure of reported investor activity, not a standalone investment recommendation.
