Sensor Tower announced on March 18, 2025, that it had acquired Video Game Insights (VGI), adding gaming intelligence focused on PC and console to its existing mobile coverage. The companies said VGI would operate as “Video Game Insights by Sensor Tower.” The announcement did not disclose the purchase price or detailed financial terms.

Why did Sensor Tower buy Video Game Insights?

Sensor Tower framed the acquisition as a way to extend its gaming intelligence beyond mobile and offer customers a view across mobile, PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. It also said the combined coverage was intended to support analysis of sales, engagement, and advertising across the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Steam. Those are Sensor Tower’s stated goals for the offering, not independently verified outcomes of the acquisition.

In Sensor Tower’s March 18, 2025 announcement, CEO Oliver Yeh said: “Gaming is a significant part of the digital economy, and with this acquisition, Sensor Tower is excited to offer our customers gaming insights across mobile, PC, XBox, and Playstation.” VGI co-founder and CEO Karl Kontus said: “We are thrilled to join Sensor Tower and further our goal of providing the industry with a comprehensive view of the gaming ecosystem.”

The announcement characterized the gaming landscape as worth $249 billion. That figure is Sensor Tower’s March 2025 framing, not an independently verified market measure.

What did Video Game Insights bring?

Sensor Tower described VGI as a gaming intelligence platform best known for game-performance data and user trends from Steam. The announcement also said VGI had expanded its data coverage to PlayStation and Xbox. In a March 2025 follow-up, Sensor Tower said VGI tracked more than 150,000 Steam titles and listed wishlist trends, sales, revenue, and player-engagement metrics. The title count is a dated company-reported figure, not a verified current count.

  • Platforms: Steam, with PlayStation and Xbox coverage also identified in the acquisition announcement.
  • Data types: The follow-up described wishlist trends, sales, revenue, and player engagement. Sensor Tower’s broader stated goal also included advertising analysis across mobile app stores and Steam.
  • Likely users: Sensor Tower positioned the combined intelligence for customers seeking to analyze games and the wider gaming market; the announcement referred to customers, but did not publish a detailed user or customer breakdown.

Does Sensor Tower cover Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox now?

Sensor Tower’s current gaming solutions page presents coverage across mobile, PC/Steam, and console, and identifies VGI wishlist and revenue metrics for tracking Steam games. This describes the company’s current product positioning; packaging and metric availability may change. The announcement and product page do not establish that every metric is available for every platform.

VGI’s platform updates page lists a Steam estimation update dated January 7, 2026, and a country-level data and enhanced Steam accuracy update dated January 10, 2026. These entries show continued product updates; they are not an independent audit of the estimates’ accuracy.

How much did Sensor Tower pay for VGI?

The March 18, 2025 acquisition announcement did not state a purchase price or detailed financial terms. It also did not provide a deal structure, employee count, or detailed integration plan. Sensor Tower’s terms page refers to prior agreements with Video Game Insights LTD being superseded by terms accepted by customers, but that contractual reference does not disclose the acquisition price or internal integration arrangements.

What is known about the combined product?

The announced name was “Video Game Insights by Sensor Tower.” The deal was presented as an expansion from mobile gaming intelligence into PC and console, with Steam as VGI’s established focus and PlayStation and Xbox also named in the announcement. Later product-page positioning and VGI update listings indicate the service remained active through the updates listed in January 2026, but do not disclose detailed integration or commercial terms.

For developers, publishers, and analysts evaluating the service, the practical question is which platform-specific metrics and estimates are available in the product package they would use. The acquisition announcement establishes the intended breadth of the offering, not a universal feature list or a guarantee that every announced analysis is available to every customer.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
