Score launched in 2024 as a dating app for people with good to excellent credit, setting a minimum score of 675 for applicants. That is no longer the reported entry rule: when Score returned in February 2026, TechCrunch described a basic tier open to everyone and a separate verified tier with added features. The credit-based premise remains, but the original threshold applies to the first version, not general access to the relaunched app.
What Score is—and how its eligibility changed
Neon Money Club introduced Score in February 2024 as a dating app built around financial health. The company’s stated idea was to bring financial responsibility into a part of life people care about: co-founder and CEO Luke Bailey said, “We originally released Score to integrate financial responsibility into something people deeply value — love.” Neon Money Club’s launch announcement described that original concept.
At launch, applicants needed a credit score of at least 675, according to TechCrunch’s February 2024 report. The app did not display users’ numerical scores on profiles. In February 2026, TechCrunch reported that Score was returning with basic access open to everyone, alongside an optional verified tier. The available reporting does not establish current pricing or confirm where the relaunched app can be downloaded.
How the reported membership levels compare
| Level | Verification | Reported access |
|---|---|---|
| Basic | No identity or credit verification required, according to TechCrunch’s February 2026 account. | Browse and connect with other members. |
| Verified | Identity and credit-score verification; users consent to the check. | Additional features, including nearby-member discovery, seeing who saved a profile, video introductions, and messaging before a mutual swipe. |
The feature descriptions and tier structure come from TechCrunch’s February 2026 coverage. It does not state current membership prices or verified geographic availability. Canada was described as a planned expansion, not a completed launch.

What credit verification means for users
TechCrunch reported that Equifax provides the verification and that the credit check is a soft pull, which the company says does not affect a user’s credit score. That is a description attributed to the company and reporting, not an independently audited assessment. The 2024 launch coverage also described the original application check as a soft inquiry.
Bailey told TechCrunch, “We don’t store full credit reports or sensitive personal and financial data.” He also said Score does not sell personal data and uses encrypted infrastructure. These are founder statements about the service’s data practices; the cited reporting does not independently verify them. Anyone considering verification should review Score’s current privacy terms and consent language before submitting information.

What the first version established—and what it did not
The original app was intended to run for about 90 days but reportedly remained live for six months and reached 50,000 users, according to TechCrunch’s 2026 account. Those are reported figures, not independently corroborated totals in the available coverage.
The premise that credit scores can be a useful conversation starter is a product thesis, not evidence that a score predicts relationship compatibility. TechCrunch also reported generational comparisons—11% and 3% for men’s and women’s credit scores, respectively—from Score’s previous run, but the published account does not provide enough methodology to treat those numbers as representative population statistics.

Historical details that may no longer apply
In 2024, people who did not meet the 675 threshold were reportedly directed to financial-literacy resources and Grow Credit. The 2026 account does not say whether that referral remains available, so it should be treated as historical rather than a current Score benefit. Similarly, the earlier threshold model should not be confused with the reported 2026 basic tier, which does not require credit verification.
