The $20 million Saturday Lotto Superdraw described in the 45th-anniversary headline was held on 31 August 2024; it is not a current draw or ticket offer. PerthNow reported that tickets for that event were available until 6pm through stores, online and the Lotterywest app. For current draw details, check Lotterywest’s Saturday Lotto page.
What the 2024 Superdraw offered
PerthNow reported that the 31 August 2024 event had a $20 million Division One prize and was presented as marking 45 years since Saturday Lotto launched. That figure described the advertised prize for this special draw, not a guaranteed prize for every Saturday Lotto draw.
As a pre-draw estimate, PerthNow said about 500 tickets a minute were expected to be sold across Western Australia that day. It also reported that Lotterywest spokesperson Zoe Wender advised players to buy early to avoid queues. The 500-a-minute figure was an expectation, not a final or audited sales count.
What Lotterywest said about 2024 wins and prizes
Wender told PerthNow: “Saturday Lotto Superdraws have produced four division one wins so far this year, including a ticket worth $2.8 million that almost went through the washing machine.” She added: “These winners have shared more than $8.7 million in prizes this year and we hope to add to that number following tonight’s event.” These were year-to-date figures and remarks made before the 2024 draw, not its eventual results.
#1 Best Overall
PerthNow also reported that Saturday Lotto Superdraws had raised more than $12 million for Lotterywest’s grants program so far in 2024. It said available profits from Superdraw tickets sold in Western Australia go back to local community groups through grants. This describes the WA community-funding context in that article, not a claim about every lottery ticket or jurisdiction.
How a Superdraw differs from a regular Saturday Lotto draw
Lotterywest’s current game page describes the regular Saturday Lotto Division One prize as an estimated $6 million and special Superdraws as offering a $20 million Division One prize. Those are the operator’s stated game descriptions; a Superdraw is a special event, not the regular weekly prize level. Check the operator’s page for current schedules, ticket availability and cutoff times, which can change.

| Special Superdraw | $20 million | A special draw; the date and ticket cutoff depend on the event. |
Why the 45-year anniversary claim needs context
PerthNow’s 31 August 2024 article described the Superdraw as marking 45 years since Saturday Lotto launched. Separately, the Australia National Lottery game information page says Saturday Lotto first took place in 1972. The sources do not explain the difference or establish whether they refer to a particular regional product, brand or other milestone. The anniversary wording should therefore be understood as the claim made by the 2024 article, rather than a settled launch date.

Later results illustrate why draw figures need their dates attached. Lotterywest reported that its 5 September 2026 Superdraw produced nine Division One winners nationally, including two WA tickets worth $2.22 million each, and raised more than $3.5 million for its grants program. Those outcomes belong to that 2026 draw; they are not results of the 2024 event or a standing promise for future Superdraws. The Lotterywest announcement gives the dated details.
