No—the Galaxy S24 FE was not $200 outright. The October 2024 offer meant at least $200 off with an eligible Samsung smartphone: on the $649 starting price, that left about $449 before tax. Samsung’s U.S. product page, checked in August 2026, advertises trade-in credit of at least $200 and up to $400, but the exact value depends on the phone and its condition. Check the credit shown for your device at checkout before counting on a price.
What did the original $200 deal mean?
The headline referred to the trade-in discount, not the S24 FE’s final price. On October 3, 2024, 9to5Google reported that Samsung was offering at least $200 in trade-in credit for a broad range of Samsung smartphones in good condition. Against the phone’s $649 starting price at the time, a $200 credit made the pre-tax price about $449—not $200.

A $200 final price would require another $249.99 or more in credit or discounts against the current $649.99 starting price. That could come from a different promotion or subsidy, but it is not what the advertised $200 trade-in credit alone establishes. See 9to5Google’s report on the October 2024 offer.
What does Samsung advertise now?
As checked in August 2026, Samsung’s U.S. S24 FE page lists the phone from $649.99 before eligible trade-in and advertises trade-in credit of at least $200, with a maximum of $400. Applying those amounts to the starting price would put the phone at roughly $449.99 with a $200 credit or $249.99 with a $400 credit, before tax. Those are illustrations using the listed starting price; the actual checkout total can vary by storage configuration, promotion, and trade-in valuation.

The page does not promise that every Samsung phone receives the same credit. Samsung says qualifying models and values can change. The exact amount appears after you select the purchase configuration and enter the trade-in device details. Check the Galaxy S24 FE product page and the Samsung U.S. trade-in terms before ordering.
Does “any Samsung phone” qualify?
The 2024 promotion was broad, but “any” should not be read as a guarantee for every Samsung-branded device, every model, or every condition. The historical report described the full credit for eligible Samsung smartphones in good condition, with examples extending to older models such as the Galaxy A32. It also reported reduced credits for some broken-screen phones. That does not establish a universal amount for damaged phones or cover tablets, watches, or nonfunctional devices.
Samsung’s general trade-in program accepts selected devices across categories including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, PCs, and earbuds, and may accept some non-Samsung products. That broader program is not proof that each device qualifies for the S24 FE promotion. The selector’s offer for your exact model and condition is what matters.

How to check your phone’s credit before buying
- Open Samsung’s Galaxy S24 FE page and choose the storage configuration you want.
- Start the trade-in flow, select Samsung as the manufacturer, then choose the exact model and answer the condition questions honestly.
- Review the credit in the checkout summary. Do not rely on a banner or an “up to” amount if the actual value is not displayed for your device.
- Before paying, confirm the total reflects the credit you expect and that you are comfortable with the terms for shipment and inspection.
Newer Galaxy S, Note, Z, and A-series models may appear in the selector, and older devices can sometimes qualify during broad offers. But the list and credit can change. Eligibility can also be affected by whether the phone powers on, holds a charge, has a working display, is blacklisted, or still has anti-theft locks enabled. Samsung’s current terms say eligible devices must meet program requirements, including having security locks disabled and being factory-reset before shipment.
What if the Samsung phone is cracked or broken?
A cracked device is not automatically worth the same as an intact one—or automatically eligible. Samsung says a cracked-device offer applies only when the specific value shown in its site or app explicitly covers a cracked device. The 2024 report described reduced credits for some damaged phones, not a standing $200 guarantee.
Check the device carefully and answer the selector’s condition questions accurately. Cracked screen or back glass, a phone stuck in a boot loop, charging-port damage, water damage, or a dead battery can change the offer or make the device ineligible. Samsung’s terms also warn that battery damage may result in recycling rather than return. A phone that is financed, leased, blacklisted, or still protected by Google Factory Reset Protection or a Samsung account lock can create additional eligibility or return problems; resolve those issues before sending it.

How to prepare and ship a trade-in
- Back up your data. Save anything you need before erasing the phone.
- Document its condition. Photograph the front, back, and sides, note any damage, and record the IMEI for your records.
- Remove account and security locks. Sign out of Samsung, Google, and other accounts, and disable anti-theft protections so the phone can be reset and inspected.
- Factory-reset the phone. Samsung requires a reset before shipment. Its trade-in help guide explains the preparation and shipping process.
- Follow the shipping instructions and deadline. Samsung says the trade-in generally must be sent within 15 days of receiving the qualifying purchase. Its help page says the label is typically generated after the new device ships and recommends taking the package to a UPS Store rather than a UPS drop box so acceptance can be confirmed.
- Keep proof. Retain the shipping receipt, tracking number, and condition photos until Samsung completes inspection.
What happens if the trade-in is late or fails inspection?
Samsung applies the anticipated trade-in value to the purchase, then checks the device after it arrives. Under the current terms, a phone that is not shipped within the stated 15-day window can trigger a chargeback of the credit. If inspection finds that it does not meet the offer requirements, Samsung can also charge back the applied credit; the relevant offer language describes a chargeback reduced by $25. The amount and remedy are governed by the terms attached to the specific offer, so review those terms at checkout.
If Samsung declines a device, its terms say it will return it at no cost upon request, subject to the applicable conditions. Keep the tracking and acceptance records in case the shipment or inspection is disputed. One trade-in is permitted per qualifying purchase, and Samsung may modify or end offers.

The trade-in can make sense if Samsung confirms a strong credit for a phone with little resale value and you want a large-screen Samsung with S-series features. The S24 FE is an older generation by August 2026, however, and a promotion’s “up to” credit is not a comparison with current alternatives. Check current prices for newer Galaxy models or A-series phones separately before deciding; no current price comparison is established here.
Trade in, sell privately, or keep the phone?
- Use Samsung trade-in if the checkout confirms the credit you expect, your device is eligible, and immediate purchase credit is worth more to you than the uncertainty of inspection.
- Consider a private sale if your old phone is a recent Galaxy S, Z, or Note model in excellent condition and likely to sell for more than Samsung’s quoted credit. Compare actual offers for the exact model and condition rather than assuming a resale value.
- Do not send it yet if it is leased, still tied to a payment plan, blacklisted, locked to an account, or contains data you have not backed up. Also wait if the expected credit is missing from the final checkout summary.
Samsung identifies a separate standalone trade-in program operated by Likewize, but it is for trading in a device without buying a new Samsung mobile device through Samsung.com; it is not a substitute for the S24 FE purchase-credit offer. See the standalone trade-in program details if that is the route you need.
All price arithmetic above is before sales tax. How trade-in credit affects taxable value can vary by state and transaction structure, so the checkout total may not equal the pre-tax comparison.
