The wallets use different custody models: Samsung announced a partner-managed service, while Phantom is a self-custody wallet. Samsung’s USDC feature was scheduled to launch in the last week of October 2026, so its availability and final in-app options should be checked before relying on it.
Samsung Wallet vs. Phantom: the key differences
These are not two versions of the same kind of wallet. Samsung’s announced service is designed to connect eligible Samsung Wallet users to partner-provided stablecoin accounts, custody and money movement. Phantom gives users self-custody control of their wallet and supports Solana and other networks.

Can I send USDC from Samsung Wallet to Phantom?
Potentially, but a shared USDC ticker does not guarantee a compatible transfer. Samsung says its service will support transfers to compatible crypto wallets on a blockchain network supported by Samsung Wallet, and it names Solana among its technical partners. Phantom supports Solana. Whether a specific Samsung account can send USDC on Solana to a particular Phantom address depends on the networks and destinations actually offered in the app when you send. - In Phantom, select the Solana account and copy its Solana receiving address.
- In Samsung Wallet, choose USDC and check the available network and recipient options. Proceed only if Solana is explicitly supported for that transfer.
- Confirm that the asset is USDC on Solana at both ends and that the recipient address is the Phantom Solana address. Do not choose a network based only on the token ticker.
- Review the recipient, network, fees and estimated delivery information shown in the app before authorizing the transfer.
Solana’s payments documentation identifies the Solana mainnet USDC mint as EPjFWdd5AufqSSqeM2qN1xzybapC8G4wEGGkZwyTDt1v and explains that tokens can share names while having different issuers or underlying assets. Use the wallet’s network and verified token details; never assume that a token called “USDC” is interchangeable across networks. Solana payments documentation

Does Phantom support USDC on Solana?
Phantom is listed as a self-custody wallet for Solana and other networks. Its Solana-only mode can focus the interface on Solana accounts, balances, tokens, NFTs and history. That supports using Phantom to manage Solana assets, but it does not establish that every token with a USDC label is authentic or that every external service supports the same transfer route. For Solana mainnet, compare the mint address shown in reliable token details with the USDC mint listed in Solana’s payments documentation. A matching name alone is not enough. Solana payments documentation

Is Samsung Wallet self-custody?
No—not according to Samsung’s announcement. Samsung says accounts, custody and money movement are supplied by regulated partners, and says Samsung itself does not hold customer funds. The release names Bastion as framework provider and Coinbase as sub-custodian, with USDC safeguarded through Coinbase Prime Vault. Samsung also says biometric authentication is required to initiate transfers. These are company-stated arrangements; read the partner terms and the app’s disclosures for account control, recovery, fees and restrictions. Samsung announcement
Phantom is described as self-custody. That means the user, rather than a custodial service, controls access to the wallet. Phantom lists optional Ledger hardware-wallet connections, but hardware storage is not required to send USDC. Availability, fees and limits to check
Samsung launch and eligibility
Samsung Electronics America announced the feature on October 7, 2026, with a planned launch in the last week of October. The announcement says initial support is for USDC and targets eligible U.S. residents age 18 or older who have a Samsung Account, a compatible Galaxy running Android 13 or later, identity verification and biometric authentication set up. It does not identify eligible phone models, so check model-level support in Samsung Wallet rather than assuming a Galaxy device qualifies. Samsung announcement
Transfer routes and charges
Samsung says external-wallet transfers can be made internationally without a Samsung transfer fee, but the receiving provider may charge and timing depends on network conditions. Its separate bank-account transfer feature is described as available to eligible accounts in more than 60 countries; supported countries, banks and account types vary, and bank transfer fees depend on destination and amount. Samsung says the app will show fees and estimated delivery information before confirmation. Samsung announcement

Solana transaction requirements
Solana’s payments guidance says a sender needs a sufficient token balance and must sign the transaction. Network-fee arrangements can vary with payment design, so inspect the transaction details rather than assuming the sender’s total cost from the USDC amount alone. Solana payments documentation
Which wallet fits your use?
- Consider Samsung Wallet if you meet its announced U.S. eligibility requirements and want a partner-managed service integrated into Samsung Wallet, including the possibility of eligible bank payouts. Verify the feature is live and the route you need is shown in your app.
- Consider Phantom if you want a self-custody wallet for Solana and are prepared to manage wallet access and verify network and token details yourself.
- For a Samsung-to-Phantom transfer, use it only when Samsung explicitly offers USDC on Solana and the recipient address is confirmed as Phantom’s Solana address.
Solana Foundation said in 2026 that 82 million U.S. Galaxy devices would have access to the announced feature; this is a device count, not a count of active users. The foundation also reported nearly 20% year-over-year growth in Solana stablecoin supply and more than $5.25 trillion in Solana stablecoin volume during 2026; those are foundation figures, not independently audited here.
