The meeting built on Samsung’s earlier supply of 4G network equipment to Reliance’s telecom business, Jio. No new contract or binding partnership was publicly confirmed.
What happened in Seoul
Lee and Ambani met at Samsung Electronics’ office in southern Seoul on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. Yonhap reported the meeting and its broad agenda, citing sources. Ambani was accompanied by his son Akash Ambani, chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm, according to The Korea Times.
The Korea visit also included meetings with executives from Samsung affiliates and tours of Samsung’s semiconductor facilities in Giheung and Hwaseong, in Gyeonggi Province. Ambani’s two-day visit had been reported in advance by Yonhap on November 19, 2025.
The existing Samsung–Reliance connection
The clearest commercial foundation for the talks is Samsung’s previous supply of equipment for Jio’s 4G network. Jio is Reliance’s telecom business; Yonhap reported that it had more than 500 million users. That past supply relationship makes future network discussions plausible, but it does not establish that Samsung has been selected to supply Jio’s 5G or 6G equipment.

Reliance Industries is the parent conglomerate, while Jio operates its telecom and digital-platform businesses. Keeping those entities distinct matters: a discussion between the two chairmen does not, by itself, amount to an order from Jio or a commitment by every Reliance or Samsung affiliate.
What the companies reportedly explored
Telecommunications networks
Network cooperation was one of the central reported topics. Future 5G equipment and 6G were discussed as possible areas for cooperation, not as completed procurements. 6G is a future-generation opportunity; the reports do not describe a commercial rollout, award, or delivery schedule.

AI and data-center infrastructure
Artificial intelligence was the other major theme. Reporting identified potential cooperation around AI data centers and related hardware. The strategic fit is straightforward: Reliance brings telecom distribution, digital platforms, a large customer base and infrastructure investment in India; Samsung has businesses spanning memory semiconductors, network equipment, batteries and construction.
Semiconductors, batteries and construction
Potential projects could draw on Samsung affiliates as well as Samsung Electronics. Samsung SDI makes batteries and energy-storage products, while Samsung C&T has construction and infrastructure capabilities. Samsung’s memory semiconductors could also be relevant to data-center infrastructure. These are possible areas of fit reported by The Korea Times and Korea JoongAng Daily, not confirmed orders or commitments by those affiliates.

Why the relationship could matter
For Samsung, deeper work with Reliance could extend its existing network-equipment connection into one of India’s largest telecom and digital ecosystems. For Reliance, Samsung could potentially offer several kinds of technology and infrastructure through different businesses, rather than only network equipment. Together, these possibilities make the meeting broader than a discussion about mobile networks alone.
The opportunity remains subject to execution. Large conglomerates can explore multiple areas without turning them into contracts, and network equipment and AI infrastructure are competitive markets. The meeting does not establish an exclusive arrangement or show that any particular Samsung company will take part in a future project.

What was—and was not—announced
The November 25 reporting confirms a senior-level meeting and discussions about networks and AI. It does not report a signed contract, a disclosed deal value, an announced investment, a joint venture, or a delivery timetable. No definitive 5G or 6G supply agreement, AI data-center order, battery purchase or semiconductor order was publicly confirmed in those reports.
Some coverage discussed the possibility that a future network contract could be worth several hundred million dollars. That is a forecast or scenario, not announced revenue or a transaction value; SamMobile’s coverage should be read as secondary interpretation rather than evidence that a deal was reached.

Personal ties are context, not proof of a deal
Lee attended the wedding of Ambani’s youngest son in India in July 2024, a detail included in Yonhap’s report on Ambani’s Korea visit. The personal connection helps explain the history of contact between the business leaders, but it does not demonstrate that the November 2025 meeting produced a commercial agreement.
