A July 30, 2024 VentureBeat profile presents Russell Nicolet as a personal injury attorney whose stated purpose is to help people facing difficult circumstances. For anyone considering Nicolet Law, the practical questions are what kinds of cases the firm says it handles, how its fees work, and whether it serves the state where the injury occurred.

What the 2024 profile says about Russell Nicolet

VentureBeat published its profile on July 30, 2024, under the headline “Personal injury attorney Russell Nicolet is here to fight for hardworking individuals.” The article states that VentureBeat’s newsroom and editorial staff were not involved in creating the content, so its descriptions should be read as a dated profile rather than independent reporting on the firm’s current performance. The profile says Nicolet formed Nicolet Law and that it grew from a one-person venture into a multi-state firm with dozens of employees. It attributes to him a focus on helping injured people and his appreciation for the employees serving them. Nicolet is quoted saying, “I am most proud of the excellent folks that work here that come in day after day to fight for the hardworking people of the Midwest that need our help,” and, “What we do is more than a job. It is a calling to help.” These are statements attributed to Nicolet in that feature, not independently verified assessments of results.

What kinds of injury cases does Nicolet Law say it handles?

Nicolet Law’s practice-areas page describes representation for people injured in accidents and families affected by fatal accidents. The categories it lists include:

  • Car and other vehicle accidents, including incidents involving distracted or impaired driving
  • Commercial truck accidents
  • Boating and personal watercraft accidents
  • Explosions

These are the firm’s own descriptions of its services; they do not establish that a particular incident qualifies for a claim or predict its outcome. A prospective client should explain the circumstances and ask whether the firm handles that specific type of matter. Nicolet Law practice areas

What the firm says about consultations and fees

Nicolet Law says an initial consultation is free and that it represents clients on a contingency-fee basis. In the firm’s description, attorney fees are not owed unless it wins the case. The reviewed public pages do not set out every possible case expense, contract condition, or state-specific variation, so a prospective client should ask for the written fee agreement and have the firm explain how fees and costs would apply to their case. The firm also says it may arrange a home or hospital visit if an injury prevents someone from traveling. Ask when scheduling whether this is available for your location and circumstances. Nicolet Law practice areas

Does Nicolet Law take cases in your state?

The firm’s public pages do not give a consistent answer about its geographic scope. Its practice-areas page says it serves Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, and Iowa, while its office-locations page lists offices in those states as well as Indiana, Illinois, and Michigan. An office listing alone does not confirm that the firm accepts personal-injury cases in that state. Nicolet Law practice areas Nicolet Law office locations

Before relying on the firm for an injury claim, contact it to confirm that it currently accepts cases arising where the incident occurred and that an attorney handling the matter is admitted to practice there. State-specific legal deadlines and rules also vary; the firm’s general service descriptions are not advice about an individual claim.

Firm background and current size

Nicolet Law’s Minneapolis page says Russell Nicolet founded the firm in 2007 and reports a team of more than 50 professionals. Those are firm-reported figures, and the headcount may change; they are not independently verified measures of experience or case results. Nicolet Law Minneapolis

Questions to ask before hiring a personal injury lawyer

A profile or practice-area list cannot tell you whether a particular lawyer is a good fit. In a consultation, consider asking:

  • Does the firm accept cases involving my type of accident in the state where it happened?
  • Which attorney would handle my matter, and what relevant experience does that attorney have?
  • Who will be my main point of contact, and how will I receive updates?
  • What does the written fee agreement say about attorney fees and case costs?
  • If I cannot travel because of my injuries, what consultation or meeting arrangements are available?

Use the answers and written agreement to evaluate whether the firm fits your needs; the available profile and firm pages do not provide an independent basis for ranking Nicolet Law against other attorneys.
