Jagex raised RuneScape and Old School RuneScape membership prices in March 2026. In the United States, a new one-month subscription costs $14.99 and a 12-month subscription costs $131.88; existing one- and 12-month subscribers began seeing the new price at renewals from April 9, 2026. Your actual price depends on your currency, account, and billing route.
How much is RuneScape membership now?
Jagex’s March 10, 2026 announcement lists these prices for five currencies. The 12-month plan’s monthly figure is the displayed equivalent, not a monthly billing amount.
| Currency | 1 month | 12 months | One Bond |
|---|---|---|---|
| USD | $14.99 | $131.88 ($10.99/month displayed) | $9.99 |
| GBP | £10.99 | £95.88 (£7.99/month displayed) | £7.49 |
| EUR | €13.49 | €119.88 (€9.99/month displayed) | €8.99 |
| AUD | A$20.99 | A$185.88 (A$15.49/month displayed) | A$13.99 |
| CAD | C$18.99 | C$167.88 (C$13.99/month displayed) | C$12.49 |
These are the announced rates, not a guarantee that every player sees the same quote. Jagex says regional adjustments can reflect currency movements, taxes, payment-processing fees, and market conditions. Its terms say non-U.S. prices generally include applicable sales taxes unless noted otherwise. Purchases through Apple, Google, or Steam are billed under that platform’s terms. Check the price and billing method shown for your account before subscribing or renewing: Jagex membership and Jagex terms.
Is the annual plan cheaper?
At the published U.S. rates, twelve monthly payments would total $179.88, compared with $131.88 for the 12-month plan—a $48 difference. PC Gamer calculated this as a 26.7% saving against twelve monthly payments; that percentage is its calculation from Jagex’s U.S. prices, not a figure Jagex publishes. The annual plan requires paying for the full year up front, and its relative value elsewhere depends on local prices and the options available to your account.

When does the higher price apply?
Jagex offered new subscription agreements at the updated prices from March 10, 2026. Existing one-month and 12-month subscribers began moving to the new rate at renewal from April 9, 2026. The higher fee does not change a subscription period already paid for; it applies at renewal. Jagex says it posts changes at least 30 days before they take effect and notifies subscribers before renewal. See the official membership FAQ for account-specific details.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the renewal price unless cancelled. Jagex says cancellation is available at any time, but cancelling close to expiry may not prevent an imminent charge; its announcement advises cancelling at least three days before renewal to avoid that issue. Review your next renewal date and payment route before making a change.
Can you keep a grandfathered rate?
Some players may retain an older monthly rate, but eligibility depends on maintaining the qualifying subscription. Jagex defines the protected group as players whose monthly subscription was activated and kept unbroken before September 27, 2024, with a stated 14-day grace period. The March 2026 announcement says an eligible grandfathered rate continues only while the recurring monthly membership remains active. Cancelling from April 9, 2026 ends that protection, subject to the stated grace arrangements for billing failures.
- Changing from monthly to a 12-month plan means you cannot later return to an inactive grandfathered monthly rate.
- Jagex gives separate guidance for players using Bonds or non-recurring payment methods; check the official FAQ before changing those arrangements.
- Existing three- and six-month subscribers keep their stated price and cadence unless they cancel, according to Jagex’s FAQ.
What happened to six-month subscriptions?
Jagex stopped selling the six-month package on March 10, 2026. Existing six-month subscribers remain on a rolling six-month subscription unless they change or cancel it. The change did not end every legacy plan: Jagex says existing three- and six-month subscribers keep their price and cadence unless cancelled.

Can you still use Bonds for membership?
Yes. Jagex says one Bond—whether bought or obtained through gameplay—can still be redeemed for 14 days of membership. The table lists the announced single-Bond prices. Bonds are virtual in-game items, not physical membership cards. Jagex also announced prices for bundles of three, five, 10, and 20 Bonds; check the current price shown for your region and account before buying. See Jagex’s Bonds information.
Does one membership cover both RuneScape games?
Jagex’s terms say membership attaches to a character, and that character can use its membership in both RuneScape and Old School RuneScape. It does not mean a single subscription covers multiple characters. The March 2026 price change applied to both games.

Why did Jagex raise prices?
Jagex says the increase supports continued investment across both games, including infrastructure, upgraded systems, new content, and player support, and describes its goal as long-term sustainability. The company said: “We want to deliver a model that better supports the ongoing investment we are making across both games.” This is Jagex’s explanation; it is not an independently verified account of how revenue is allocated or a guarantee of particular future features.
