What the $25 shipping fee applies to
Rogers’ reservation page states that a $25 shipping charge applies to self-serve device purchases on rogers.com. Its broader store policy says a shipping fee may apply, so the reservation page is the clearer source for the current amount and scope.
The $25 charge is for shipping a device; it is not the same as Rogers’ separate $40 device setup charge for specialist-assisted purchases, which is also listed on the reservation page. The sources reviewed do not establish how many customers or shipments are affected, or how much revenue the fee generates.
What changed at Rogers and Fido
In a September 22 report, iPhone in Canada quoted a carrier cart notice saying: “For a limited time, a $9 shipping charge applies or pick up in-store for free on eligible devices. $25 shipping charge will apply as of October 5.” That was a historical notice quoted by the publication, not a current checkout capture.

On October 5, 2026, iPhone in Canada reported that the shipping charge had returned to $25 and that in-store pickup remained free. Its September report said Rogers and Fido displayed the same October 5 return date. The official current Rogers page confirms Rogers’ $25 fee; the sources available here do not independently verify Fido’s current checkout amount. Treat the Fido figure as reported, rather than as an independently confirmed current policy.
Home delivery or store pickup?
The practical choice is whether home delivery is worth the shipping charge or pickup better suits your schedule. Rogers’ store policy says ship-to-home orders are normally delivered within 3–5 business days, excluding weekends and holidays. Pickup may be available as soon as the same day at participating stores, but availability depends on the device, location and stock.

For an iPhone preorder, timing can differ from an in-stock device purchase. Rogers’ upgrade and pre-order FAQ covers order timing, inventory, delivery and pickup; check the available option and estimated timing for the specific device before completing checkout.
- Choose delivery if the convenience is worth the displayed shipping charge and the checkout estimate meets your needs.
- Check pickup if avoiding home-delivery shipping matters and a participating store has an eligible device available.
- Compare the full checkout cost and timing. A different retailer or carrier may have different terms, but do not assume it will avoid fees without checking its current offer.
Why the fee is under regulatory scrutiny
The CRTC’s June 16, 2026, staff letter followed changes to the Wireless Code and Internet Code under Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2026-43, which took effect June 12. Staff questioned whether Rogers’ $25 shipping fee and other new charges complied with the rules and asked the company to explain its position. The letter said: “Today, on 16 June 2026, Rogers has begun charging its customers new fees that would similarly appear to not fall under the exemption”.
The CRTC later described the issue as whether the fees qualify for the optional-services/products exemption and directed the companies to show cause in Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2026-155 and its follow-up, CRTC 2026-155-2. The CRTC’s account says Rogers considers its fees compliant. The notices establish a regulatory dispute and show-cause process, not a final ruling that the shipping fee is unlawful.
