Rogers did offer 25GB of bonus data on its Popular plan in late 2025—but that promotion has expired. The Black Friday offer raised the plan’s advertised high-speed allowance from 175GB to 200GB and was reported as available through December 1, 2025. Rogers’ current Popular plan has since been restructured, so the old 200GB promotion should not be treated as a current offer.
This article explains what the deal included, who it suited, how “unlimited” data worked, and what changed afterward.

Was the plan really unlimited?
Not in the sense of unlimited full-speed data. The promotion increased the high-speed bucket from 175GB to 200GB. After that allowance was used, service could continue at reduced speeds of up to 512Kbps, according to follow-up coverage from MobileSyrup.
That distinction matters. Reduced-speed data may be sufficient for messaging, email, navigation and basic browsing, but it can be frustrating for high-definition video, large downloads, cloud backups and heavy hotspot use. A customer at 199GB would still be within the reported high-speed allowance; after reaching 200GB, the reduced-speed policy would apply under the historical terms.
What else was included?
The follow-up report said the historical Popular plan included Canada/U.S. talk, text and data, unlimited international texting and unlimited calling to 27 countries. Canada/U.S. access was not the same as worldwide roaming: the available information did not establish that Mexico, the Caribbean or other destinations were included in this older offer.

Was $85 the final monthly bill?
Not necessarily. The reported $85 figure was an advertised monthly price, and Rogers pricing can depend on conditions such as:
- Auto-Pay enrollment;
- Rogers internet or TV service;
- the number of lines on the account;
- bring-your-own-device eligibility;
- device financing or phone promotions;
- temporary bill credits; and
- taxes, connection charges, SIM or eSIM fees and shipping.
Rogers’ current plans page says displayed prices can depend on Auto-Pay and that customers may save by combining mobile with Rogers internet or TV. A bundle discount is not automatically a household saving if switching home-service providers adds installation charges, equipment costs or a higher internet bill.
Who could get the bonus?
The original report focused on people signing up for the Popular plan. It did not confirm that all existing customers could receive the extra data simply by remaining on their current plan. Eligibility could also differ between online checkout, retail stores, phone sales and account migrations.

Related Black Friday promotions
The 25GB data promotion was separate from Rogers’ StreamSaver offer. The November report described StreamSaver—Apple TV, Disney+ and Netflix—as available for $15 per month for 24 months, compared with a reported regular price of $22. It was an optional entertainment add-on with its own eligibility and duration, not part of the data allowance.
Rogers later brought back the 25GB bonus with other perks, according to a December 5 report, including 12 months of Uber One on Popular and three months of Citytv+. A December 17 report still described the plan as 175GB plus a 25GB bonus. Those later promotions had different dates and terms and should not be treated as a single uninterrupted offer.
How the deal compared with cheaper plans
The historical Rogers offer was most compelling for people who genuinely needed a very large data allowance or regular Canada/U.S. use. It was less compelling for a light or moderate user who could meet their needs with a cheaper Canada-only plan.

Lower-cost brands may provide enough data for many users, but can differ in coverage, speed caps, roaming and international calling. Their current prices were not verified for this historical comparison, so shoppers should check each provider’s current signup page.

What happened to the offer?
- November 28, 2025: The 25GB Black Friday promotion was reported, raising Popular from 175GB to 200GB.
- December 1, 2025: The original reported deadline passed.
- December 5, 2025: A follow-up report said Rogers had brought back the bonus with additional perks, but did not identify a public end date.
- December 17, 2025: Holiday coverage still described the 175GB-plus-25GB configuration.
- By July 2026: Rogers’ lineup had moved to 5G+ tiers, with Popular presented as an unlimited high-speed-data plan rather than the historical 200GB structure.
Rogers’ current Popular plan page shows a materially different structure, including a captured price of $75 per month with Rogers internet or TV and Auto-Pay, while the standalone price shown was $100 before applicable incentives. Current prices, included destinations and promotional perks can change, so verify them directly with Rogers.
Bottom line
The Rogers 25GB bonus was a genuine, time-limited 2025 promotion—not a permanent 25GB addition that remains available today. It brought the historical Popular plan to 200GB of high-speed data, with reduced-speed service afterward, and could make sense for heavy users or customers who valued Canada/U.S. usage and Rogers bundle discounts.
For everyone else, the important comparison was the complete bill—not just the headline data amount. Check the current plan structure, eligibility, Auto-Pay requirements, device costs and roaming terms before switching.
