In an interview published October 6, 2026, Robinhood chief investment officer Stephanie Guild discussed energy, software, healthcare and other stocks while warning that already-high earnings expectations could be difficult to sustain. Her comments, as summarized by Opening Bell Daily, are a dated account of one portfolio manager’s views—not current market data, a complete transcript or recommendations for individual investors.

What Guild said she was watching

The October 6 episode listing describes a 33-minute Full Signal interview with Guild, recorded live at HOOD Summit in Houston with host Phil Rosen. Its subjects included her portfolio, bond-market risks, healthcare and defense stocks, and whether double-digit earnings growth could last. Opening Bell Daily’s recap supplies the reported comments and figures discussed below; it is not a full transcript, so the recap should not be treated as an exhaustive account of the conversation.

The episode’s promotional framing referred to stocks to “BUY,” but the recap expressly cautions that specific securities discussed were not recommendations. Guild’s comments are best read as illustrations of themes and risks she was considering at the time, not as a buy list or a guide to what suits a particular investor.

Why earnings expectations concerned her

Guild’s central concern, according to the recap, was that expectations were demanding. She cited expected earnings growth of more than 30% in 2026, about 14% in 2027 and roughly 15% in the following year, while questioning whether double-digit growth could persist for three years. These are figures attributed to Guild as reported by Opening Bell Daily—not independently verified forecasts or guaranteed outcomes.

She summarized the concern with the statement, “Earnings expectations are not low,” as reproduced in the recap. When expectations are elevated, even companies that continue to grow may disappoint investors if results or guidance fall short of what share prices already imply. That is a risk framework, not a claim that a market-wide earnings slowdown is certain.

Guild’s January 6, 2026, CIO-authored outlook provides earlier context: it emphasized company-specific fundamentals and diversification, rather than relying only on broad index exposure. That January argument is separate from her October interview comments and should not be mistaken for a new forecast.

Energy was a hedge in her portfolio, not a call to chase the rally

Guild described energy as a hedge, saying that “the best hedge has been actually investing in the energy sector,” according to the recap. The same account says Robinhood Strategies kept its energy allocation steady while changing individual holdings: it sold ExxonMobil and had more recently bought EOG Resources. Guild also named Diamondback Energy as a company she liked.

The distinction matters: maintaining an allocation while rotating holdings is not the same as advising investors to buy the whole sector after a strong rise. The recap does not establish current holdings, entry prices or subsequent performance. Its names and portfolio details belong to the October 2026 interview period.

Other companies and themes mentioned

The recap reports several additional company references. Each came with a particular rationale or qualification, rather than a single ranking of stocks.

Company or group Reported context What the comment does—and does not—establish
Shopify Guild reportedly said it had been bought ahead of earnings as an AI-productivity idea. She also said it might not be the best new buy after its rise. The recap does not provide a current valuation or a performance assessment.
Nutanix Included among companies receiving positive comments. The recap does not specify a price target, timing or detailed investment thesis.
Gilead and Eli Lilly Included among healthcare names receiving positive comments. The recap does not provide specific catalysts or establish that either is suitable for a particular investor.
Nike Discussed as a possible turnaround. A turnaround possibility is conditional; it is not evidence that a recovery has occurred.
CrowdStrike and Cloudflare Guild reportedly expressed interest in cybersecurity names in an AI-agent failure scenario. This is a scenario-based rationale, not a claim that such a failure is inevitable or that either company will benefit.
Kratos Guild’s reported comment was, “I’m not saying it’s a buy,” in a defense-related discussion. The qualification is material: the mention should not be recast as an endorsement.

How to read “torpedoes” versus “resets”

Guild’s distinction, as summarized, was about what lies behind a sharp share-price fall. A “torpedo” is a company whose stock has dropped sharply while growth metrics remain intact; the recap associates this group with software. A “reset” is a company whose earnings estimates have been cut; the recap says these were mostly consumer companies.

That distinction can help frame questions to investigate, but it does not tell an investor whether a decline is an opportunity. A price drop with stable operating measures can still reflect valuation, competitive or other risks; estimate cuts can also change as new information arrives. Guild also raised concern about whether AI-related investment would generate returns on schedule, which makes the gap between spending, promised productivity and realized earnings important to examine.

Why she was cautious about bonds

Guild said she was “personally not there yet” on buying bonds, according to the recap. It reported a 10-year Treasury yield of about 5.2% at the time of recording and attributed the high yields to energy-driven inflation concerns, government debt supply and changing demand for longer-term Treasuries.

The 5.2% figure is a point-in-time interview reference, not a current yield. Nor does Guild’s reluctance at that time establish that bonds are unattractive now or for every investor. Bond decisions depend on current yields, time horizon, income needs, interest-rate risk and the role bonds play in a diversified portfolio.

What the company figures add—and what they do not

Robinhood Markets reported $1.07 billion in revenue for the first quarter of 2026, up 15% year over year, in its Q1 earnings-call transcript. The transcript also described company priorities including active traders, customer growth and AI investment. These figures provide company context; they do not validate Guild’s views on the securities she discussed or establish the performance of Robinhood Strategies.

Because the available recap is not the full interview transcript, details beyond the comments and figures it reports cannot safely be inferred. In particular, mentions do not establish additional holdings, portfolio weights, personal recommendations or present-day positions.

A practical way to use the interview

  • Separate the theme from the security. Energy as a hedge or cybersecurity as a possible response to AI-agent failures is a thesis to evaluate, not proof that any named stock will deliver it.
  • Check expectations as well as growth. Compare a company’s actual results and guidance with what investors appear to expect; growth alone does not resolve valuation risk.
  • Ask what caused the decline. Distinguish a price move with operating measures intact from one accompanied by lower earnings estimates, while checking for other changes in the business.
  • Recheck dates and facts. The yield, portfolio changes and stock references belong to the October 2026 interview period and are not live updates.
  • Fit any investment to your own plan. Consider diversification, time horizon, risk tolerance and the possibility of losing money rather than treating interview mentions as instructions.
