Rob Couhig’s company agreed in principle to buy Reading FC on 3 May 2025, but the takeover was not complete that day. The English Football League (EFL) cleared the new ownership on 14 May, when the sale was completed. The purchase was reported to be worth £25 million; Reading did not disclose a price in its announcement.
Who bought Reading FC?
The buyer was Redwood Holdings Limited, a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, which is owned by Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair. Reading FC announced the agreement in principle on 3 May 2025, naming Redwood as the acquiring company.
The announced transaction included the football club, Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. Those were the assets Reading identified as part of the sale.
When did the Reading takeover complete?
The 3 May announcement marked an agreement in principle, not a completed transfer of ownership. The EFL confirmed final clearance for the new owners on 14 May 2025, and the takeover completed that day.

Was the purchase price really £25 million?
The Guardian reported on 19 May 2025 that Couhig’s completed purchase was worth £25 million. That figure was reported by the newspaper, not disclosed by Reading FC or confirmed as a price in the club’s sale announcement. Bloomberg’s coverage of the 3 May announcement said financial terms had not been disclosed.
Why did the sale take until May 2025?
The takeover followed an earlier unsuccessful attempt by Couhig to buy Reading. BBC Sport reported that the earlier bid collapsed in September 2024. On 27 March 2025, Reading said the sale process was still ongoing and referred to a legal dispute involving Couhig; the renewed agreement was announced in May and completed after EFL clearance.
