Rivian’s reported gas- and hybrid-owner promotion offered $3,000 off in the U.S. or $4,100 CAD in Canada, and eligible customers did not have to trade in their existing vehicle. It applied only to specified new R1S and R1T vehicles during a 2024 order and delivery window, which has expired.
How much was the discount?
The reproduced promotion terms listed a discount of $3,000 USD for eligible U.S. customers and $4,100 CAD for eligible Canadian customers. They said it would be applied to the vehicle’s MSRP and could be used with a qualifying purchase or lease, including cash or financing transactions. The discount was limited to one per qualifying transaction and could not be exchanged for cash or another benefit. The terms were reproduced by Rivian Forums; contemporaneous coverage also described the inventory-vehicle promotion. Carscoops reported on the offer.
Did you have to trade in your gas or hybrid car?
No. For this promotion, qualifying meant documenting current ownership or a lease of a gas-powered or hybrid vehicle; the terms did not require the owner to trade it in or transfer it to Rivian. The reproduced rules called for a copy of the qualifying vehicle’s current registration or proof of insurance. The person using the discount had to be named on the relevant ownership or lease paperwork, and the offer was nontransferable. Rivian Forums’ reproduced terms set out those conditions.
Which Rivian vehicles qualified?
The reproduced terms limited eligibility to certain new 2025 R1S and R1T Dual or Tri configurations purchased through Rivian’s online Shop. They excluded custom builds, demo and pre-owned vehicles, other models, and Dual Standard configurations. In other words, owning a qualifying gas or hybrid vehicle alone was not enough: the Rivian also had to match the specified model, configuration, condition, and Shop-purchase requirements. The reproduced promotion rules provide the configuration details; contemporaneous reporting likewise described new inventory R1T and R1S vehicles.

When did the promotion end?
The stated promotion required an order between October 31 and November 30, 2024, and delivery by December 31, 2024. Those dates have passed, so this specific gas- and hybrid-owner discount is not currently available. The detailed rules are available as a reproduction rather than an independently authenticated original Rivian terms page; the dates and restrictions should be understood on that basis. No. A Rivian search result surfaced a separate 2026 example of a $3,000 lease contribution. That is a different incentive and does not extend or revive the 2024 gas- or hybrid-owner promotion. Check the terms for any current offer directly before relying on it, since the eligibility, vehicle, and timing may differ.
