Rivian delivered 12,194 vehicles in Q2 2026, up 14% year over year, and reported that the total exceeded its quarterly outlook. The company announced Q3 2026 results on October 2, 2026, but exact totals need confirmation from Rivian’s own release before they can establish a newer trend.
What the component shortage affected
On October 4, 2024, Rivian said a shortage of a component shared by its R1 and RCV platforms had disrupted production starting in Q3 2024. The shortage had become more acute in recent weeks and was still affecting production when the company disclosed it. Rivian cut its 2024 production outlook to 47,000–49,000 vehicles, while keeping its delivery outlook at 50,500–52,000. Rivian’s 2025 annual report later identified the particular shortage as one within the Enduro motor system and said it had been resolved. That account supports a specific, historical supply problem; it does not establish that the shortage caused a 2026 delivery decline. Rivian’s 2025 annual report
What Rivian’s latest verified figures show
For Q2 2026, Rivian reported producing 12,613 vehicles and delivering 12,194. Deliveries were 14% higher than the 10,661 delivered in Q2 2025. The company said the Q2 total exceeded its earlier outlook of 9,000–11,000 vehicles, citing quarter-over-quarter growth in EDV and R1 deliveries and the start of R2 deliveries. Production and deliveries are different measures: production counts vehicles manufactured; deliveries count vehicles handed over to customers. A comparison of production with deliveries in one quarter should not be read as a direct measure of unsold inventory without more information.
How to interpret the delivery trend
Rivian announced Q3 2026 production and delivery figures on October 2, 2026. The exact totals are not established here by a verified primary release, so they should not be used to claim that deliveries are currently falling or rising. Check the company’s release or SEC filing for those numbers before making a latest-quarter comparison. The reported Q3 announcement listing

When comparing quarters, use the same quarter in the prior year as well as the immediately preceding quarter. Also note vehicle mix: Rivian said Q2 2026 growth included EDV, R1, and initial R2 deliveries. A change in total deliveries can reflect different contributions from those lines and is not, by itself, evidence of a component shortage.

Rivian’s Q2 2026 filing says production depends on component supply, equipment uptime, factory downtime, and other factors. It also describes reliance on mostly single-source suppliers and continued exposure to interruptions in component and raw-material supply. There is also a documented example of a different cause for a delivery dip. Rivian’s 2025 annual report says the expiration of certain federal EV tax credits on September 30, 2025 pulled demand and deliveries into Q3 and contributed to a corresponding Q4 decline.
