Reading FC is currently owned in full by Redwood Holdings Limited, and the club lists Rob Couhig and Todd Trosclair as directors. The sale to Redwood was announced in principle on 3 May 2025. The EFL deadlines attached to Dai Yongge’s divestment were part of that 2025 process, not current deadlines. Reading’s published updates document a dispute between Couhig and the seller in 2025, but do not establish its present court status. Robert Platek’s interest was reported during earlier takeover talks; there is no evidence here of a current bid.
Who owns Reading FC now?
Reading FC’s company-details page lists Redwood Holdings Limited as the club’s sole owner and names Robert Emmett Couhig Jnr and Todd Trosclair as directors. That is the clearest current ownership record, checked on 8 October 2026.
What happened in the Redwood takeover?
On 3 May 2025, Reading announced a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited. The club said the transaction included the Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. A sale announced “in principle” describes the status stated at that time; the current company listing separately identifies Redwood as owner.
Reading’s announcement also said the EFL had extended a deadline to its board meeting on 8 May. The EFL’s earlier public update described a different step in the process: a further extension for Dai Yongge to divest his interests until 5 May. These are separately dated statements about the 2025 transaction, not a single continuing deadline.

What were the EFL deadlines?
| Date or period | What it concerned | What the record says |
|---|---|---|
| 5 May 2025 | Dai Yongge’s divestment | On 22 April 2025, the EFL said its board had granted a further extension until 5 May for Dai to divest his interests in Reading FC, subject to compliance with other EFL regulations. EFL statement, 22 April 2025. |
| 8 May 2025 | EFL board meeting | Reading’s 3 May sale announcement described a further extension to the EFL board meeting on 8 May. Reading statement, 3 May 2025. |
| 31 March 2025 | Filing 2023/24 accounts | In March 2025, Reading warned that missing the accounts filing deadline could result in a further EFL registration embargo. This was an accounts and registration issue, not Dai’s divestment deadline. Reading statement, 27 March 2025. |
| October 2024 | Late 2022/23 accounts | Reading said an EFL registration embargo had been imposed because its 2022/23 accounts were filed late. This was a separate earlier event. Reading statement, 7 October 2024. |
What is known about the Couhig–Dai dispute?
Reading’s 27 March 2025 statement said litigation involving Couhig remained active at that point and referred to a proposal for alternative security. In a supporters’ Q&A summary published on 2 October 2025, the club recorded Couhig saying he was in dispute with the seller and would keep quiet until Christmas. Those dated reports establish that a dispute was being discussed in 2025; they do not establish whether a case remains active, has been resolved, or has otherwise changed since then.

Press reporting during the 2025 sale process described Platek as a potential investor. The available reporting also said exclusivity with the prospective buyer had ended by April. This is historical reporting, not confirmation of a current offer or bid by Platek.
