Who owns Reading FC now?
Reading Football Club Ltd is owned in its entirety by Redwood Holdings Limited, according to the club’s company details. The page lists Robert Emmett Couhig Jr and Todd Trosclair as directors.
On 3 May 2025, Reading announced a sale in principle to Redwood Holdings Limited, including the stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. The club said Redwood was a subsidiary of Dogwood Football LLC, owned by Couhig and Trosclair. The announcement said formal completion remained subject to final legal technicalities. On 14 May, the EFL confirmed Reading was under new ownership.
What happened to the 2024 exclusivity period?
On 7 October 2024, Reading said it had agreed an exclusivity period with a potential purchaser. The proposed sale was described as covering Dai Yongge’s shareholding in Reading Football Club Ltd, Select Car Leasing Stadium and Bearwood Park Training Ground. The statement also said the arrangement provided funding until the proposed completion.

That announcement was part of an earlier sale process, not evidence that exclusivity is still active. The later sale announced in principle was to Redwood, and the EFL subsequently confirmed the change of ownership.
How long does a Reading FC takeover take?
There is no fixed public timetable for a future change of control. The EFL says an acquisition must meet both EFL and Independent Football Regulator (IFR) requirements, and that it cannot give a timescale for each prospective transaction. The process depends on factors including the number of investors, ownership structure, source and sufficiency of funding, senior roles, required notifications and approvals, and how regulatory requirements interact. Prospective owners must demonstrate the ultimate source and sufficiency of their funding to the League. See the EFL’s acquisition-of-control guidance.
The EFL guidance says the IFR’s Owners, Directors and Senior Executives regime was introduced from 5 May 2026. It describes the assessment areas as honesty and integrity, financial soundness, financial resources and competence. This is general context for future transactions, not an announcement of another Reading sale.

The cited reporting does not establish a connection between DA Capital and Reading FC. BBC Sport reported that DA Capital took over Nuneaton Borough in November 2023 and relinquished ownership in December 2023: the takeover report and the ownership update. STV News reported in October 2024 that Inverness Caledonian Thistle and DA Capital had not reached a deal; the club said talks had ended amicably, with a possible return to discussions later: the report.
