Their official US prices overlap, so neither name alone settles which watch is the better buy. Compare specific models: Raymond Weil’s cited examples include the Millesime Small Seconds at $2,425 and Toccata Heritage variants from $1,195; Longines lists the Flagship Heritage at $2,150 and Flagship Heritage Moonphase models at $3,450. How their histories differ
Longines: roots in 1832
Swatch Group dates Longines’ founding to 1832 in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, and describes it as the oldest registered trademark still bearing its original winged-hourglass emblem. The parent-company profile also points to Longines’ history in precision watchmaking and sports timing. Swatch Group’s Longines profile is the source for those historical claims.

Raymond Weil says it was founded in 1976 by Raymond Weil and remains among independent family-owned watch companies. The brand says founder’s grandson Elie Bernheim leads it and frames its identity around independence, Swiss watchmaking, creativity, music, and the arts. That makes its history substantially younger than Longines’, but founding date by itself does not establish how a current watch performs or is made.

What the price examples show
The cited prices overlap rather than forming a simple lower-priced-versus-higher-priced split. On Raymond Weil’s official US site, the Millesime Small Seconds, a 39 mm model with a tuxedo dial, was listed at $2,425. Toccata Heritage 28 mm variants were listed at $1,195, $1,275, $1,650, $1,875, $2,350, $2,425, and $2,550. Raymond Weil’s US collection listings are the source for these examples.
Longines’ US Flagship Heritage page listed a 38.50 mm automatic stainless-steel Flagship Heritage at $2,150 and Flagship Heritage Moonphase variants at $3,450. Those are US list prices shown by Longines’ Flagship Heritage page; prices may change and vary by market. The moonphase models add a complication, so their price is not a like-for-like comparison with a simpler time display.

For a real purchase decision, compare current local prices for the exact variants you want, including taxes and whether the offer is for a new or pre-owned watch. A lower listing does not, on its own, show better value: materials, movement, complications, fit, warranty, availability, and service costs also matter.
Design depends on the collection
Raymond Weil’s varied cues
The brand describes Toccata Heritage as a 50th-anniversary collection that reinterprets classic ladies’ watchmaking, with a curved round case and jewelry-inspired details drawing on proportions associated with the 1950s through the 1970s. Its Millesime Small Seconds has a 39 mm tuxedo dial. Raymond Weil describes A.R.T. as its first integrated-bracelet watch, with an architectural case, polished bevels, and contrasting finishes. These examples point to different looks within the same brand, rather than one uniform Raymond Weil style.

Longines’ Flagship Heritage
Longines says the Flagship line has been emblematic since the late 1950s and characterizes its design in terms of elegance and simplicity. A distinctive detail is the hand-painted enamel caravel on an 18-carat gold medallion set into the screw-down caseback. The collection offers both a simpler Flagship Heritage and moonphase variants, so decide whether the complication and its styling suit your use as well as the case and dial.

There is not enough paired specification information in the cited product pages to declare a technical winner across the brands. Use the official specification sheets for the exact two references you are considering and compare:
Rank #4
- Automatic L844 movement, hours, minutes, seconds and date. 24 hours hand with time zone mechanism
- Stainless steel with double safety folding clasp and push-piece opening mechanism
- 5 Year International Warranty
- Purpose and appearance: Decide whether you want a dress watch, everyday watch, vintage-inspired design, sportier model, or integrated-bracelet look.
- Movement and complication: Check whether each is quartz or automatic and whether it shows only the time or adds features such as a small seconds display, moonphase, or chronograph.
- Fit: Compare case diameter, thickness, lug-to-lug length where published, and bracelet or strap dimensions. Diameter alone does not determine how a watch wears.
- Materials and practical specifications: Verify case and crystal materials, water resistance, clasp, and any model-specific magnetic or shock-resistance claims.
- Ownership details: Confirm warranty terms, authorized-retailer status, service access, and likely servicing costs for the exact watch and your country.
- Price basis: Compare current local list prices, taxes, stock, and whether both offers are new, discounted, or pre-owned.
Longines says its automatic watches use movements with silicon balance-springs, whose properties improve resistance to ordinary temperature variation and magnetic fields. That is a brand-published technical statement, not evidence that a particular Longines model is more accurate than a Raymond Weil counterpart.
What the evidence does not establish
The listed brand histories and prices do not demonstrate comparative accuracy, durability, finishing quality, service expense, or resale value. No independent hands-on comparison or market statistic is established by these sources. Treat “better” as a model-level decision based on specifications, price, fit, and ownership terms—not an assumed result of brand age or reputation.
Raymond Weil’s anniversary page also lists The Fifty, a 37 mm limited anniversary chronograph, at €9,990 and marked sold out when accessed. The page describes a hand-wound historic Valjoux Calibre 23-6 and a 48-hour power reserve. It is an unusual anniversary piece rather than a representative everyday option, and its euro price should not be compared directly with the US listings above. See Raymond Weil’s anniversary page.
