Ratan Tata’s reported social media statement on October 7, 2024, said he was having medical check-ups related to age, that there was “no cause for concern,” and that he remained in good spirits. Tata died on October 9, two days later.

What did Ratan Tata say in his reported post?

A contemporaneous report by The Hills Times, citing PTI, says Tata addressed rumors about his health in a post on X on October 7, 2024. The report reproduces his statement as: “I am currently undergoing medical check-ups due to my age related medical conditions. There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits.”

The report also attributes this request to him: “I request the public and media refrain from spreading misinformation.”

Was the statement two days before his death?

Yes. The October 7 report says Tata died on October 9, 2024, making the statement two days before his death. A Central Chronicle account published October 11, 2024, also described the statement as his last social media post and as occurring two days before his death.

Why does the headline say “Spirit” while the reported quote says “spirits”?

The headline wording uses singular “Spirit,” but the contemporaneous report reproduces Tata’s phrase as “I remain in good spirits.” The plural form is the wording to use when quoting the report.

What the reported statement does—and does not—establish

The available accounts report that Tata said he was undergoing age-related medical check-ups and asked people not to spread misinformation. They do not identify a specific illness, treatment, hospitalization, or prognosis. The accounts reproduce the post’s wording; they are not an independently retrieved archive of the original post. Although coverage characterized it as his last social media post, that characterization does not independently establish that no later post appeared on every platform.
