What did Rakul Preet Singh say?
In a statement shared on Instagram and reported by India Today on October 5, 2026, Singh said the search was not pertaining to her. Moneycontrol reproduced her words: “The search was not pertaining to me.”
She also said she had paid her taxes since age 20, describing herself as a responsible, law-abiding citizen. That is Singh’s claim; the reports do not independently verify her tax history.
Singh denied involvement in illegal foreign remittances, including remittances on behalf of a production house, and denied holding benami property for anyone. These are denials, not findings by tax authorities.

What were the reported Income Tax searches about?
NDTV reported that the Mumbai Income Tax Department conducted searches at 12 locations on September 28, 2026, in connection with suspected fund irregularities. The reporting described alleged overseas movement of funds under the guise of financing film projects as an investigative focus.
The figure of 12 refers to the reported locations searched. It does not establish that all those locations, or the operation itself, were linked personally to Singh. The reviewed reports do not include an official department statement or finding.

Was the search pertaining to Rakul Preet Singh?
Singh’s stated position is that it was not. Some coverage connected her name to reports about the searches, but the available reporting does not establish that the department searched her premises or made a finding against her. A search and an allegation are not proof of wrongdoing.
