Rajeev Misra Leaves SoftBank’s Vision Fund Leadership; Alex Clavel Takes Over

Rajeev Misra left his remaining SoftBank investment-advisory leadership roles in November 2024, and Alex Clavel became sole CEO of SoftBank Investment Advisers and SoftBank Global Advisers. This was separate from Misra’s August 2022 departure from executive positions at SoftBank Group: he remained CEO of the Vision Fund 1 manager after that earlier change.

What changed in November 2024?

SoftBank said Misra would relinquish his roles as co-head of SoftBank Investment Advisers and SoftBank Global Advisers. Alex Clavel would become the sole CEO of both units, ending Misra’s remaining official SoftBank leadership responsibilities, according to TechCrunch’s November 12, 2024 report.

SoftBank’s CFO, Yoshimitsu Goto, characterized the change by saying, “His key role is over,” as quoted by Moneycontrol.

How was this different from Misra’s 2022 departure?

The two announcements concerned different positions. On August 31, 2022, SoftBank announced that Misra was stepping down as Corporate Officer and Executive Vice President of SoftBank Group, effective that day. The company also said he would continue as CEO of SB Investment Advisers, the manager of Vision Fund 1. So the 2022 change was not his complete departure from SoftBank; the remaining advisory leadership roles ended in 2024.
