QuantumGate announced two enterprise security offerings—Secure Virtual Mobile Infrastructure (Secure VMI) and the Crypto Discovery Tool—alongside a strategic partnership with PwC Middle East at GISEC 2025. The products address different problems: Secure VMI is designed to isolate business activity on mobile devices, while Crypto Discovery is intended to inventory cryptographic assets and help organizations plan post-quantum upgrades.

The announcement, dated May 7 on QuantumGate’s website and May 8 in a syndicated release, represents a product and go-to-market announcement—not independent proof of product performance, customer adoption or quantum-safe protection. Public materials do not disclose pricing, contract value, named customers, deployment numbers or independent testing results.

The company’s first-party announcement describes the Crypto Discovery Tool as a new product and discusses Secure VMI as part of QuantumGate’s offering. A syndicated version presents both as product debuts. That difference matters: the public material does not clearly establish that both products were launched for the first time simultaneously.

The PwC agreement is described as cooperation on strategic client projects, cybersecurity events, educational webinars and white papers about post-quantum security. It is not publicly described as an exclusive distribution agreement, investment, government contract or guarantee that PwC has deployed or independently validated the products.

Commercial terms, customer names, implementation targets, service-level commitments and revenue forecasts were not disclosed in the reviewed announcements.

The two products solve different security problems

Product Primary problem Core function What it does not establish
Secure VMI Business data and applications on personal or mobile devices Provides access to an isolated, cloud-hosted Android work environment It does not eliminate phishing, identity compromise, insider threats or screen-capture risks
Crypto Discovery Tool Unknown, outdated or unmanaged cryptographic use Inventories cryptographic assets and identifies weaknesses to support migration planning It does not automatically replace algorithms, rotate keys or complete a post-quantum migration

Secure VMI: an isolated mobile work environment

QuantumGate describes Secure VMI as an application that lets a user access a cloud-hosted Android environment from a personal or enterprise mobile device. The intended separation is between the user’s personal phone environment and a virtual enterprise workspace.

According to QuantumGate’s product materials, work applications and data are intended to remain in the virtual environment rather than being stored directly on the device. The company and syndicated release list compatibility with enterprise applications including Microsoft Teams, Slack and Outlook. QuantumGate also describes the service as cloud-provider agnostic.

This model may appeal to organizations using bring-your-own-device programs or employing staff who need mobile access to sensitive systems. Finance, healthcare and government organizations are among the sectors that may consider this type of architecture when issuing corporate devices to every employee is impractical.

What Secure VMI may improve

  • Reduces the amount of business information retained directly on personal phones.
  • Separates work applications from the user’s ordinary personal environment.
  • May support BYOD without giving an employer control over the entire personal device.
  • Can provide a centrally managed workspace for mobile access to enterprise applications.

However, “no local data storage” should be treated as a stated product objective, not an absolute guarantee that information can never leave a device. Buyers should ask specifically about cached files, screenshots, clipboard contents, notification previews, crash logs, offline content, printing, file transfer and external peripherals.

Questions buyers should ask about Secure VMI

  • Which client operating systems and minimum versions are supported?
  • What happens when the user loses connectivity?
  • Where is the Android environment hosted, and what data-residency options are available in the Middle East?
  • Is the environment operated by QuantumGate, the customer or a third-party cloud provider?
  • How are SSO, MFA, device posture checks, root or jailbreak detection and remote revocation handled?
  • Can administrators block copy and paste, screenshots, screen recording, printing, downloads and file transfers?
  • How are identity-provider compromise, malicious insiders and compromised SaaS applications addressed?
  • What are the tenant-isolation, audit-log, backup, disaster-recovery and recovery-time arrangements?
  • What does “end-to-end encryption” mean in the product documentation, including the endpoints and who controls the keys?
  • Has the design been independently audited or penetration-tested?

Secure VMI should therefore be compared with, rather than automatically treated as a replacement for, mobile-device management, mobile application management and virtual desktop infrastructure. Its value will depend on the organization’s need for isolation, offline access, mobile usability, policy control and regional hosting.

Crypto Discovery Tool: visibility before migration

The Crypto Discovery Tool is positioned as an enterprise cryptographic asset-discovery and inventory platform. It is not an encryption replacement system and does not make an organization quantum-safe simply by being installed.

QuantumGate’s product page and technical white paper describe scanning across network, application and system layers. The listed areas include:

  • Network traffic and protocols
  • Applications and embedded cryptographic libraries
  • File systems and environment variables
  • Container images and cloud environments
  • Certificates and keys
  • Cryptographic algorithms and configuration settings
  • Protocols such as TLS and SSH

The company says the tool can identify weak or obsolete algorithms, weak keys, expired certificates, outdated configurations, hardcoded secrets, protocol weaknesses and potential compliance gaps. Its materials also describe sensors for network, application and system layers, reporting features and integrations with hardware or cloud key-management systems.

For a large enterprise, the main benefit of this type of tool is visibility. Cryptography may be embedded in APIs, databases, identity systems, cloud services, devices, applications, certificates, third-party software and operational technology. Security teams cannot sensibly prioritize migration if they do not know where cryptography is being used or what data it protects.

Discovery is not remediation

The Crypto Discovery Tool can support assessment and planning, but discovery alone does not:

  • Replace vulnerable algorithms.
  • Reissue certificates or rotate keys.
  • Retrofit applications.
  • Guarantee regulatory compliance.
  • Prove that an organization is quantum-safe.
  • Complete a post-quantum cryptography migration.

Scanning coverage will also depend on permissions, sensor placement, network visibility and whether the tool can inspect application internals, proprietary binaries, ephemeral workloads and third-party systems. Inventory findings may contain sensitive information about an organization’s architecture, certificates, keys and weaknesses, so customers should examine access controls, data retention and export security.

Questions buyers should ask about Crypto Discovery

  • Which algorithms, protocols, libraries and key types can it detect?
  • Does it inspect source code, runtime behavior, traffic metadata or all three?
  • Can it identify cryptography inside proprietary binaries and container images?
  • How are secrets handled during scans—copied, hashed, redacted or referenced?
  • Can findings be mapped to applications, owners, data classifications and business criticality?
  • How are false positives and false negatives identified?
  • What APIs and export formats are available for SIEM, CMDB, GRC and DevSecOps systems?
  • How does the platform prioritize post-quantum migration work?
  • What independent evidence exists for detection accuracy?
  • Which remediation and key-management workflows are automated, if any?

Why cryptographic discovery matters for post-quantum planning

Post-quantum preparation is not simply a matter of installing a new encryption product. Organizations must identify long-lived sensitive data, understand where cryptographic controls are embedded and determine which applications, vendors and protocols can be upgraded.

There is also a “harvest now, decrypt later” concern: an attacker may capture encrypted data today and attempt to decrypt it in the future if sufficiently capable quantum computing becomes available. The urgency depends on the sensitivity and required confidentiality period of the data, as well as the organization’s technology dependencies.

PwC Middle East guidance emphasizes cryptographic inventory, asset-based quantum-risk assessment, controlled testing, third-party review and crypto-agility. Crypto-agility means being able to change algorithms and implementations without redesigning an entire technology estate.

These concepts should be kept separate:

  • Post-quantum cryptography: Algorithms intended to resist attacks from sufficiently capable quantum computers.
  • Quantum key distribution: A separate communications approach requiring specialized infrastructure.
  • Crypto-agility: The organizational and technical ability to change cryptographic mechanisms with limited disruption.

QuantumGate’s announcement does not establish that every component of either product uses finalized or independently certified post-quantum algorithms. The company’s description of libraries developed by experts at Abu Dhabi’s Technology Innovation Institute is a company claim, not independent certification or proof of superior performance. Likewise, any five-to-ten-year quantum timeline should be understood as a positioning statement rather than a settled forecast.

What the PwC partnership adds

The partnership could connect QuantumGate’s technology with PwC’s regional advisory, governance and implementation capabilities. That may be useful for large organizations that need to turn a technical inventory into a broader risk, compliance and transformation program.

The announced activities include strategic client projects, cybersecurity events, educational webinars and white papers. The public materials do not disclose whether the relationship is exclusive, how customers will be selected, what implementation targets exist or whether PwC recommends QuantumGate over competing products.

Organizations considering a joint engagement should request a detailed statement of work covering scope, deliverables, roles, data access, hosting, independent assurance, remediation responsibilities, fees and success criteria. A consulting partnership can help with program design, but it does not substitute for technical validation or customer references.

How prospective customers should evaluate the offering

  1. Define the actual problem. Determine whether the priority is BYOD isolation, cryptographic inventory, certificate management, application remediation or a broader post-quantum program.
  2. Map the environment. Document cloud, on-premises, container, mobile, identity, application and third-party dependencies before selecting a deployment model.
  3. Run a controlled pilot. Test representative workloads, permissions, performance, offline behavior, alert quality and administrative effort.
  4. Validate security claims. Request architecture diagrams, encryption details, key-management documentation, penetration-test reports, audit reports and relevant certifications.
  5. Measure coverage. For Crypto Discovery, compare known test assets with detected assets. For Secure VMI, test screenshots, clipboard controls, downloads, notifications, session termination and compromised-device scenarios.
  6. Plan remediation. Assign owners and timelines for algorithm replacement, certificate renewal, key rotation, application changes and vendor coordination.
  7. Clarify regional operations. Confirm data residency, support location, incident response, subcontractors, service availability and data deletion procedures.
  8. Review exit options. Ensure that inventory data, policies, logs and configuration can be exported and that the organization can leave without losing operational visibility.

What remains unproven

The announcement establishes that QuantumGate is positioning these products for enterprise security and post-quantum-readiness work. It does not establish product performance at scale, detection accuracy, independent certification, customer adoption, pricing, deployment volume or measurable reductions in cyber risk.

It also does not show that Secure VMI prevents all data leakage, that Crypto Discovery finds every cryptographic asset or that PwC has independently validated QuantumGate’s technical claims. Those questions require current product documentation, demonstrations, contractual commitments and independent assurance evidence.
