Qatar Airways Group reported a fleet of 284 aircraft as of 31 March 2024: 230 passenger aircraft, 29 cargo aircraft and 25 Qatar Executive aircraft. A separate report’s total of 259 counts passenger and cargo aircraft only. The date and scope explain the difference—and matter when comparing fleet figures.
How many aircraft were in the Qatar Airways fleet in 2024?
The clearest like-for-like figure is the Qatar Airways Group fleet at the end of its 2023/24 financial year, on 31 March 2024. The Group Annual Report counted 284 aircraft across Qatar Airways passenger operations, Qatar Airways Cargo and Qatar Executive.
| Fleet category | Aircraft as of 31 March 2024 |
|---|---|
| Passenger | 230 |
| Qatar Airways Cargo | 29 |
| Qatar Executive | 25 |
| Group total | 284 |
The annual report’s total includes three operating segments; it is not a count of passenger jets alone. Qatar Airways Group Annual Report 2023/24
Why do some reports say 259 aircraft?
The figure 259 is also correct for its stated scope and date: the sustainability report counts 230 passenger aircraft plus 29 cargo aircraft as of 31 March 2024. It excludes the 25 Qatar Executive aircraft included in the annual report’s Group total. The two figures are therefore not conflicting estimates; they count different parts of the Group.

That webpage is current and undated; it is useful for the airline’s present-day model list and seating information, but it is not a complete census of the fleet at the end of 2024. The available dated figures establish the Group totals and financial-year deliveries, not an exact type-by-type count for 31 December 2024.
Were Qatar Airways’ 777X aircraft part of the 2024 fleet?
No. An order is a commitment for future aircraft, not evidence that those aircraft were already in service. On 23 July 2024, Boeing announced that Qatar Airways had ordered 20 additional 777-9 aircraft, bringing its total Boeing 777X order to 94. Boeing’s announcement also cited orders for 12 787 Dreamliners and 25 737 MAX aircraft. Those order figures should not be added to the 31 March operating fleet.
In the announcement, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer Badr Mohammed Al-Meer said: “Qatar Airways is proud to announce an expansion to the existing Boeing 777X aircraft order with an additional 20, totalling 94 Boeing 777X aircraft”. Boeing’s 23 July 2024 announcement
