Qantas announced plans to redesign its uniforms for a reported 17,500 employees, with staff surveys and a designer-selection process forming part of the work. PerthNow reported on 5 February 2025 that the new look was intended to debut in 2027. That date was a target announced at the time, not a confirmed current schedule; the report does not establish whether Qantas has since named a designer or changed the timeline.
What Qantas announced about its new uniform
PerthNow reported that Qantas was seeking a designer for a uniform redesign covering a workforce of 17,500. The figure comes from the newspaper’s 5 February 2025 report, rather than a primary Qantas announcement. The reported process included selecting a designer and conducting major staff surveys.
Qantas CEO Vanessa Hudson said the airline was putting employees “at the core of the design process.” She also described the uniform as representing the Qantas spirit internationally, connecting the redesign to the airline’s direction and its fleet renewal plans. PerthNow reproduced these comments and attributed them to Hudson; its article is secondary reporting, not a direct Qantas release.
Who is designing the new Qantas uniform?
PerthNow’s report described a designer-selection process but did not name the designer chosen. It therefore does not establish who is currently designing the uniform. The existing design at the time of the report was by Paris-based designer Martin Grant.

When is the new Qantas uniform expected?
The date reported for the planned debut was 2027. Because that was a target stated in February 2025, it should not be treated as a confirmed current rollout date. The report does not say whether the schedule has changed.
How Qantas employees are meant to shape the design
Major staff surveys were part of the announced process, and Hudson said employees would be central to the design. The report does not give details about survey timing, participation, or how feedback would be used to select design features.
