Punjab, Pakistan has opened online registration for its October 2026 auction of premium vehicle registration numbers. Motorcycle, car and commercial-vehicle owners can register to bid through the official e-Auction web portal or app until October 31, 2026, according to Business Recorder’s October 2 announcement. The report does not list the October numbers, reserve prices or full auction timetable, so check the live instructions on the Punjab Excise Department website before paying.
What the October 2026 announcement confirms
The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) and Punjab Excise Department opened registration for online bidding on preferred registration numbers for motorcycles, motor cars and commercial vehicles. Registration is open through October 31, 2026, and the report says applicants can use the app or web portal rather than visit an office.
The announcement does not identify the numbers available in this round, give current bids or reserve prices, or set out the round’s complete timetable and payment instructions. PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf described the platform as providing a “seamless, secure, and transparent mechanism”; that is the department’s characterization, not an independently verified assessment. The announcement reports no participation, revenue or result statistics for this auction.
How to check the auction and register
- Open the official Punjab Excise website. Follow its current link to the e-Auction portal or app and confirm that the October auction is live. Use the instructions displayed for this round.
- Review available marks and terms before paying. Check the mark’s availability, applicable vehicle class, reserve price, participation requirements, payment method and deadlines. The standing policy says the platform publishes available marks before each round; it does not establish which marks are in the October 2026 auction.
- Complete the current application. The general policy calls for applicant and vehicle particulars, including CNIC or NTN and vehicle chassis number. Follow the live portal’s requirements rather than assuming every standing-policy detail applies unchanged to this round.
- Pay only through the method stated on the official portal. Do not rely on an unofficial post or an old fee schedule. Save the application and payment confirmations and monitor the portal for bidding and result information.
What the standing auction policy says
Punjab Excise’s published policy describes the usual framework for preferred registration marks. These are general policy provisions, not confirmation of the October round’s exact lots, charges or schedule.

Who can apply, and what if you do not own the vehicle yet?
The general policy links the chosen mark to vehicle and applicant details. It says the mark is allotted to a vehicle owned by the person, firm or company, or to a vehicle being registered through transfer of ownership. It calls for details including CNIC or NTN and chassis number.
That wording does not establish that someone without an eligible vehicle can bid in the October 2026 round. If you have not yet bought or registered the vehicle, ask Punjab Excise or check the current auction terms before registering or paying; do not assume a number can be reserved independently of a vehicle.

What a successful bidder must do
The highest bid is separate from the prescribed vehicle-registration fee. Under the standing policy, a successful applicant must register the vehicle within 15 days of the results. The policy allows a possible additional 30 days in compelling circumstances, but the live terms should be checked for how to request or qualify for that extension.
- The auctioned mark may be displayed only after the vehicle has been properly registered.
- The policy does not treat the mark as freely transferable to a vehicle belonging to another owner.
- If the highest bidder does not pay within the stated time, the policy says the reserve amount may be forfeited and the mark cancelled.
- The department reserves the ability to cancel an auction or allocation.
Do not confuse the auction with personalized vanity plates
Punjab Excise also has separate terms for personalized vanity plates, published November 11, 2024. That program covers alpha, numeric and combined plate formats, scrutiny-committee review, and category-specific participation and reserve prices. It is distinct from the ordinary attractive-number auction; its rules and fees should not be assumed to govern the October 2026 auction.

Punjab, Pakistan—not the Indian state of Punjab
This announcement concerns Punjab, Pakistan, under the Punjab Excise Department and PITB. India’s Punjab has a separate transport department and a separate fancy-number process. Its website says an auction held on June 3, 2026 was cancelled, so that notice is unrelated to the Pakistani October auction.
