The live program portal says the internship lasts four months, but Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) announcements for the 2026 second cohort described a five-month placement. Applicants should check the official portal for the terms and application status of their own cycle.
What the Chief Minister IT Internship Program offers
Work for Punjab–Chief Minister IT Internship Program is a Government of Punjab initiative administered with PITB and partner IT companies. It is intended to give graduates practical experience through industry placements, projects, mentorship and digital-skills development. The portal describes the PKR 50,000 amount as a monthly stipend for selected interns, not a one-time award. Check the official CMITIP portal for current program details.

How much is the stipend, and when is it paid?
The portal lists PKR 50,000 per month for selected interns, funded by the Government of Punjab. Receiving the full monthly amount is conditional on the portal’s assessment requirements:
- Attendance: At least 70% attendance; attendance accounts for 50% of the assessment weighting.
- Supervisor evaluation: Accounts for 40% of the weighting, with a minimum required score of 50%.
- Monthly progress reports: Account for the remaining 10%.
The portal says interns may take up to two paid leave days per month; additional absences result in deductions. Check the portal for the current cycle’s full payment and attendance rules.

How long does the internship last?
Official material gives two different durations. The live CMITIP portal lists four months. PITB’s April 22, 2026 announcement about the second cohort specified five months, and its July 29 update said Batch 2 interns would work over the next five months. The difference may reflect cohort-specific terms or a portal update; the available announcements do not establish which duration applies to a new cycle. Use the portal’s terms for the cycle you are applying to and confirm with the program if the duration is unclear. CMITIP portal · PITB announcements
Are applications open now?
The latest notices described here do not establish that candidate applications are currently open. PITB announced second-cohort registration in April 2026, with a candidate deadline in June; by July, Batch 2 had begun. September notices concerned companies registering to host interns in a later cycle, not candidate applications. An employer-registration announcement should not be treated as an open application window for graduates.
Check the official portal directly for a live candidate registration link, deadline and document list. The portal directs candidates to register online and upload the required documents; the exact current requirements should be confirmed there. Check candidate application status on CMITIP.

An Associated Press of Pakistan update about graduates awarded internships described a plan for 2,000 placements across four phases, with PKR 50,000 monthly stipends per intern and PKR 12,500 monthly support for partner companies per intern. Those are program-design figures in that update; they should not be read as proof that 2,000 placements were completed or as an employment guarantee. Associated Press of Pakistan update
