Did the same plan increase from $34 to $36?
That exact increase is not established by the available historical record. Public Mobile Community discussions report $34 50GB offers and a $36 Canada-US 50GB offer at different times in 2024. Those prices may refer to different promotions or plan variants, so they should not be treated as proof that one unchanged plan increased by $2. The discussions are customer reports, not official company notices. Public Mobile Community.

One July 2024 forum question described a reported $34-to-$39 change, while an August 2024 commenter said the $36 Canada/USA 50GB 5G offer had expired. A later discussion described a $34 Canada-US offer with 15GB at 4G. These remarks illustrate how figures can vary by date and plan, but do not establish the effective date or terms of the specific $34-to-$36 claim. Public Mobile Community discussions.

How to compare the offers fairly
Price alone is not enough to tell whether two offers are the same. Compare the plan’s price, data amount, speed tier, included geography and eligibility, and note when each offer was available.

What Public Mobile’s terms say about rate changes
Public Mobile’s service terms, updated March 10, 2026, state: “Public Mobile may change the Services offered, including rates, and any term of the Agreement, at any time.” The terms say that, where notice is required, Public Mobile will provide at least 30 days’ notice through a reasonable method, such as its website, email or text message. They also describe monthly subscriptions as 30-day prepaid periods unless a plan specifies otherwise. What customers should check
- Review your account for your current plan name, price, data and coverage area.
- Check any direct notice from Public Mobile for the specific change and effective date that applies to you; a forum post is not a substitute for that notice.
- Before switching, compare the current offer with your existing plan, including whether coverage is Canada-wide or includes the United States or Mexico.
- Check device compatibility and coverage separately. Public Mobile says not all devices work on its network, and its coverage page describes its 5G network as powered by TELUS. Check Public Mobile coverage.
