Sony’s 2025 Black Friday announcement does not prove that PS5 prices fell below their pre-hike levels. It confirmed limited-time offers beginning November 21, 2025, including $100 savings in select regions, but did not provide the market-by-market sale prices needed to verify that comparison. Sony announced a later global price increase effective April 2, 2026, so any claim that a particular deal beat the old price needs to match the same region, console model, edition, storage and bundle.
What Sony’s 2025 Black Friday announcement confirms
Sony published its Black Friday announcement on November 18, 2025, and said the promotion would begin November 21 for a limited time. The company said local offers could differ by region and retailer. Its announcement named savings of $100 on PS5 consoles and PS5 Digital Edition consoles in select regions, and $100 on PS5 Pro consoles. Those savings should not be read as a universal offer in every country or on every listing. Sony’s 2025 Black Friday announcement

Sony also gave U.S. recommended retail prices for two Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundles: $399.99 for the PS5 Digital Edition 825GB bundle and $449.99 for the PS5 1TB bundle. These are prices for named bundles, not evidence of the console-only price or the price of every PS5 listing. Sony cautioned that retailer prices and availability may vary.
Why the “below pre-hike” comparison remains unverified
Sony announced updated recommended retail prices for PS5, PS5 Pro and PlayStation Portal effective April 2, 2026, describing the change as a global price increase. For territories outside the announcement’s directly listed pricing, Sony directed customers to local retailers or direct.playstation.com. Sony’s price-change announcement

- Includes DualSense Wireless Controller, 1TB SSD, 2 Horizontal Stand Feet, HDMI Cable, AC power cord, USB cable, printed materials, ASTRO’s PLAYROOM (Pre-installed game)
- Vertical Stand sold seperately
The two official announcements establish a 2025 promotion and a 2026 price-change date, but they do not establish exact like-for-like prices for every product and market. In particular, the $100 savings figure is not itself a Black Friday transaction price, and the named U.S. bundle prices cannot establish that a console-only deal in another territory beat its prior price. No market-wide price-history statistic is established by these sources.
How to check whether a specific PS5 deal beat its pre-hike price
For a meaningful comparison, check both prices against the same product and terms:

- Match the market and currency. Use prices from the same country; Sony says regional offers vary.
- Match the console. Compare the same model, storage capacity, and disc or digital edition.
- Match what is included. Compare console-only with console-only, or bundles with the same included items. A named bundle’s recommended price is not interchangeable with a standalone console price.
- Use the relevant pre-hike reference. Compare the sale price with the price immediately before the applicable price increase, not an unrelated historical listing.
- Separate suggested prices from checkout prices. Sony’s recommended retail price and a retailer’s actual transaction price are different measures; verify the retailer listing and its availability.
Unless those details line up, describe a deal as a discount or a lower listed price—not as a verified price below the pre-hike level.

The 2025 offer is historical, not a standing discount. Sony’s announcement does not confirm a 2026 Black Friday promotion or predict what future offers will cost. For a current purchase decision, check the retailer’s live listing in your market and confirm the exact console or bundle before comparing prices.
