For anyone looking up “promising video game stocks to watch today,” Take-Two Interactive, Electronic Arts, Sony and Microsoft are useful companies to research—but the available evidence does not support ranking them as the best buys. Take-Two and EA are game publishers; Sony and Microsoft are diversified platform companies whose shares also reflect businesses outside gaming. The figures below are company-reported and tied to their stated dates, not current recommendations.

Which gaming stocks should you watch?

These four companies offer different kinds of exposure to the video game business. Take-Two and EA publish games; Sony and Microsoft operate broader platforms and businesses. The available disclosures provide selected operating facts and earnings dates, but not a comparable, same-date stock screen. Treat the list as a starting point for further research, not a ranking of likely returns.

Company Business type Dated evidence in the cited company materials What it does—and does not—tell an investor
Take-Two Interactive (NASDAQ: TTWO) Game developer, publisher and marketer, operating principally through Rockstar Games, 2K and Zynga. Its Q2 FY2026 report, published November 6, 2025, reported net bookings of $1.96 billion, up 33% year over year; recurrent consumer spending made up 73% of bookings. It named NBA 2K26, NBA 2K25, Borderlands 4, Toon Blast, Grand Theft Auto Online and Grand Theft Auto V among its largest contributors, and gave November 19, 2026 as the then-planned GTA VI release date. The investor-relations page showed a $213.44 quote at 4:00 p.m. ET on October 9, 2026. The operating results show growth and a mix of recurring spending and game releases at that reporting date. The quote is a dated reference, not an October 11 live price or evidence that the stock is attractively valued.
Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: EA) Game publisher. Its FY2026 results, published May 5, 2026, reported record net bookings of $8.026 billion, up 9% year over year, and identified Battlefield 6 as a major contributor. This is historical operating context. It does not establish the shares’ current valuation or how much future performance depends on the franchise or subsequent releases.
Sony Diversified platform company; not a pure-play game stock. Sony’s investor-relations page recorded an October 8, 2026 update and listed a Q2 FY2026 earnings announcement for November 5. The page establishes an upcoming reporting date, not comparable results for Sony’s gaming business.
Microsoft Diversified platform company; not a pure-play game stock. Microsoft’s page listed FY2026 Q4 results on July 29, 2026, and its next earnings release for October 28. The schedule makes the next results a potential information point; it does not provide a comparable measure of the company’s gaming business.

Company announcements describe reported results and planned schedules. Forecasts and release dates can change, and past operating growth does not guarantee future results.

How to interpret the publisher candidates

Take-Two: consider recurring spending alongside the release slate

Take-Two’s labels and named contributors span console, PC and mobile properties, while its reported bookings include recurrent consumer spending as well as launches. That combination makes it important to examine both the staying power of existing games and the execution risk around new releases. Its stated GTA VI date is a plan reported in November 2025, not a guarantee; check for a newer company announcement before relying on it.

EA: separate a strong fiscal year from the next outlook

EA’s reported record year and Battlefield 6 contribution are evidence about the fiscal year that ended, not a substitute for current guidance or a valuation analysis. The company’s risk language identifies product demand and release timing, competition, regulation, and risks tied to a proposed transaction. Those issues can affect expectations even when reported bookings have been strong.

What to check before calling any of these stocks “promising”

A watchlist becomes an investment comparison only when business performance is considered alongside the price being paid and the risks attached to future results. Use the same date and definitions for every company:

  • Business exposure: Distinguish a publisher’s game-related results from a diversified platform owner’s total-company performance. Do not infer a platform company’s gaming growth from an earnings-calendar entry.
  • Recurring spending and release dependence: Compare ongoing consumer spending with revenue or bookings tied to full-game launches. The cited Take-Two and EA figures are not identical measures or reporting periods, so they should not be treated as a direct like-for-like growth contest.
  • Franchise concentration and pipeline: Look at which franchises contribute materially, how dependent results are on a small number of releases, and whether launch timing has changed. Treat planned dates as forward-looking.
  • Operating trend and guidance: Put each company’s historical results beside current guidance and later reports. A past growth rate alone cannot show whether expectations are already reflected in the share price.
  • Price and valuation: Compare same-date market prices, market capitalizations and relevant valuation measures. The cited material provides only Take-Two’s dated October 9 quote, so it cannot establish relative value on October 11.
  • Balance-sheet and transaction risks: Review the latest filings and company disclosures for debt, cash, material commitments, proposed transactions and regulatory developments. The available EA risk language flags transaction and regulatory risks but does not settle their outcome.
  • Geography and platforms: Check where players and spending come from and which platforms a company’s games reach. Exposure can differ across console, PC and mobile, as well as across markets.

What “today” means for this October 11 watchlist

The only share quote in the cited material is Take-Two’s October 9, 2026, 4:00 p.m. ET quote. It is not a live October 11 price, and one company’s quote cannot rank four companies by value. Sony’s and Microsoft’s cited pages provide earnings timing rather than comparable game-segment operating figures. Before making a current comparison, check each issuer’s latest results, guidance and market data; also verify whether planned releases or transaction developments have changed.

These examples can help structure further research, but the evidence here cannot establish which stock is the best investment. A decision should account for your time horizon, risk tolerance and the possibility of losing money.
