No retailer wins every tech deal. Compare the exact product, seller, bundle contents, and final checkout terms: the lowest sticker price can be for a different model, a third-party listing, or a package missing useful accessories. For October 2026, Amazon’s Prime Big Deal Days ran October 6–7, while Best Buy’s Techtober sale and Walmart’s reported Deal Days event extended through October 11.
When are the October 2026 tech sales, and who can shop them?
The events overlap, but their dates and access rules differ. Sale prices, stock, and terms can change, so check the live product page before buying.
- Amazon Prime Big Deal Days: Amazon described its October 6–7 event as 48 hours of deals for Prime members. Amazon says offers are available while supplies last and prices and availability can change. Amazon’s event information also describes a price-history feature showing up to 365 days of data.
- Walmart Deal Days: NBC Select reported that the October event ran October 5–11 and advertised savings of up to 50% across categories including tech and electronics. That figure is an advertised maximum, not evidence that a particular product is discounted by that amount. Walmart’s official announcement cited here covers a separate June 22–28 event and says eligible Walmart+ members received early access to select online hot-deal drops; it does not establish October access terms. - Best Buy Techtober: Best Buy’s Top Deals page said the sale ends October 11, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. These windows are a snapshot of the October 2026 events, not a recurring schedule or a guarantee that a specific product will remain available.
Why the cheapest retailer is not necessarily the best deal
A useful comparison must hold the product and purchase terms constant. The cited cross-retailer examples show that bundles, sellers, and model numbers can differ even when listings appear to cover the same category. Kiplinger’s examples are sale-period snapshots, not a controlled survey of every retailer or product. Kiplinger’s comparison

Arlo Pro 6 cameras: count the accessories, not just the cameras
In Kiplinger’s cited snapshot, Best Buy’s package included three cameras, a charging station, and four rechargeable batteries. Amazon’s offer had four cameras without that bundle, while Walmart’s had three cameras. The listed prices at publication were $199.99 at Best Buy, $189.99 at Amazon, and $180.98 at Walmart; they are historical examples, not current quotes. A new owner may value the charging station and batteries, while someone who already owns compatible gear may prefer more cameras.
Vantrue N4 Pro dash cam: compare what is in the box
Kiplinger said Best Buy’s cited bundle included a 128 GB memory card, which the Walmart and Amazon offers did not. Best Buy also offered professional installation for an added fee. A lower price for the camera alone is not directly comparable to a bundle that includes a card; include the card’s cost only if you need one, and compare installation separately.

Shark PowerDetect 2-in-1 vacuum and mop: verify seller and model
The Walmart offer in Kiplinger’s comparison was sold by a third party. The Amazon listing used model AV2800ZE, while Best Buy’s used RV2820ZE; the comparison said the differences were unclear. Confirm the exact model, features, and seller before treating these as equivalent offers.
Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 Chromebook: check configuration and seller
Kiplinger described Best Buy’s offer as $189 and sold directly by Best Buy. Its Walmart listing cost more and came from a third party; the Amazon listing differed in storage and was also third-party. The $189 figure is a dated snapshot. Compare storage and the exact configuration, as well as who fulfills the sale.

Apple AirPods Pro 3: when the prices are close
In Kiplinger’s snapshot, all three retailers directly sold the compared product at nearly identical prices. When the model, seller, and package match and prices are close, delivery timing, pickup convenience, and your retailer preference can reasonably decide the purchase.
A six-point checklist for comparing a tech deal
- Match the exact product. Check the full model number and configuration, including storage, color where relevant, and included components. Similar names do not guarantee identical products.
- Identify the seller. Distinguish a retailer’s own sale from a marketplace or third-party listing. Check the seller shown on the product page and at checkout.
- Inventory the package. Look for accessories such as batteries, chargers, memory cards, or installation. Decide whether you need them and what it would cost to buy missing items separately.
- Check membership and access. Amazon’s October event was for Prime members. Walmart’s June announcement described eligible Walmart+ early access for select drops, but the cited official information does not establish October terms; verify the live listing.
- Compare the real checkout offer. Confirm current price, stock, delivery or pickup, and any added service cost before deciding. Sale terms and availability can change.
- Use price history where available. Amazon says its product-page feature can show up to 365 days of pricing data. A displayed discount percentage alone does not establish whether a deal is unusually low.
So, which retailer should you shop?
Start with the product you want, then compare matching listings across the three retailers. Choose the offer with the best combination of exact configuration, seller, useful included items, and checkout convenience—not simply the largest advertised discount or the lowest headline price. The cited examples do not establish a retailer-wide winner, and no independent cross-retailer statistical study cited here proves that one consistently has the best tech prices.
