Portnox said it closed a $37.5 million Series B on April 8, 2025, with Updata Partners leading the round. The company said it will use the funding for product innovation, market expansion, and to make enterprise-grade zero-trust security more accessible to resource-constrained security teams.

Who led Portnox’s $37.5 million funding round?

Updata Partners led the Series B, according to Portnox’s April 8, 2025 announcement. Updata general partner Jon Seeber joined Portnox’s board of directors. Updata’s own investment announcement reported that the firm had more than $1.5 billion in committed capital; that figure describes Updata, not Portnox’s funding or valuation.

What does Portnox do?

Portnox sells Portnox Cloud, which the company describes as a cloud-native unified access-control platform. It brings together passwordless authentication, authorization, risk mitigation, and compliance enforcement across enterprise networks, applications, and infrastructure. In practical terms, the software is intended to help organizations control who and what can access those systems.

Portnox’s description of the product and its reported customer traction appear in its funding announcement. The release reported nearly 1,000 global customers, a 95% customer retention rate, and a 4.6-star Gartner Peer Insights rating. Portnox did not state the rating’s review count or explain how it calculated retention, so those figures should be treated as company-reported indicators rather than independently verified outcomes.

How much has Portnox raised in total?

Portnox said its $37.5 million Series B followed a $22 million Series A led by Elsewhere Partners in 2022, bringing its total investment to $59.5 million. The company’s announcement gives the precise cumulative figure; SecurityWeek described the total as $60 million when covering the round in its April 8, 2025 report.

The available announcements do not disclose Portnox’s valuation, investor ownership stakes, or other detailed financial terms. The amount raised alone does not establish the company’s valuation or the value of any investor’s stake.

What has Portnox reported since the funding?

In a July 21, 2026 company update, Portnox said it had more than one million devices under management, processed more than 40 million authentication sessions, and blocked over one million unauthorized access attempts each day. It also reported 52% year-over-year growth in second-quarter bookings. These are company-reported operating figures, not independently validated measures.

The same update said Portnox expanded its cloud platform, added a captive portal for guest, visitor, and contractor access, and extended zero-trust network access capabilities to RDP, SSH, VNC, and Telnet. It also announced PartnerEdge, a reseller program intended to help partners build cloud access-security practices. These developments postdate the 2025 financing announcement.

What the funding announcement does—and does not—show

The round provides capital for Portnox’s stated plans, but it does not by itself establish how the company compares with other network-access vendors or whether its product delivers better security outcomes. Portnox CEO Denny LeCompte called the shift from on-premises network access control to cloud-native zero-trust solutions a “multi-billion-dollar market”; that is his estimate in the company release, not an independently established market-size figure.

For a vendor comparison, organizations would need evidence about deployment model, identity and device coverage, authentication and policy controls, integrations, compliance features, implementation complexity, and independently supported customer outcomes. The financing announcements do not provide a comparative evaluation on those measures.
