The reported September reduction was about ₱0.40 per kilogram; LPG marketers later described a staged October increase totaling ₱18 per kilogram, of which the first ₱10 tranche had taken effect by October 3.
What changed, and when?
The headline’s reduction applies to September, not to current prices nationwide. The Philippine Information Agency (PIA), citing the Department of Energy (DOE), reported a decrease of around ₱0.40 per kilogram that month. It estimated the saving at about ₱4.40 for a standard 11-kilogram cylinder.
Late-September and October reports then described tax-related relief followed by market increases. These are separate developments: the September monthly adjustment, the anticipated tax-related cut, and the later industry-reported October increases.
| Period | Reported change | Status as of October 8, 2026 |
|---|---|---|
| September | About ₱0.40/kg lower; approximately ₱4.40 less for an 11-kg cylinder, according to DOE figures reported by PIA. | Reported September adjustment. |
| September 30 | Regasco was reported to start a ₱3/kg cut tied to the excise-tax suspension. | Philstar reported the cut was expected to start; DOE had not yet formalized the final equivalent adjustment. |
| October 3 | ₱10/kg increase, the first part of a reported ₱18/kg total increase. | GMA News reported this first tranche had taken effect. |
| October 10 and 17 | Further increases of ₱5/kg and ₱3/kg, respectively. | Expected in GMA News reports; these dates had not yet arrived as of October 8. |
The October tranches and projected totals were industry-reported changes, not an official nationwide posted price. Individual retail prices can vary by brand, seller, and location.

How much is an 11-kg LPG tank?
The DOE estimate reported by PIA put September retail prices for an 11-kg cylinder at ₱1,031–₱1,536, depending on brand and location. That range describes September estimates, not a guaranteed current October price.
GMA News reported LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA) estimates that a tank could reach as much as ₱1,600 after all three reported October increases. That was a projection, not a nationwide official price, and as of October 8 only the first tranche had been reported as implemented. For an actual purchase, ask an authorized local seller for the current price and confirm whether delivery is included.

Why did prices fall, then rise?
In its September explanation, DOE figures reported by PIA showed lower freight costs and a slightly stronger peso offsetting a higher international LPG contract price. Freight fell from $120.82 to $94.41 per metric ton. The peso averaged ₱61.40 per US dollar in August, compared with ₱61.59 in July, while the contract price rose to $649.50 per metric ton from $634.00.
Later, LPGMA representatives described higher world-market costs and freight premiums as drivers of October increases. The industry outlook had already turned upward in late September: Philstar quoted LPGMA president Arnel Ty expecting at least ₱3/kg in tax-related relief while warning of a possible ₱10–₱15/kg increase as early as October 3, depending on the final world-market calculation. GMA News subsequently reported the staged October increases.

Is another LPG price drop expected?
As of October 8, 2026, the available reports do not establish that another reduction is expected. In an October 4 GMA News report, LPGMA founder Arnel Ty said he could not yet give an accurate November forecast or say whether increases would continue through Christmas. Treat future price direction as uncertain rather than relying on the September reduction as a trend.
The DOE’s LPG and Auto-LPG Price Monitor page showed a last review date of July 27, 2026, so it does not establish an official October price table. For current local pricing, compare authorized sellers rather than treating press estimates as a live nationwide tariff.
