The figures below are annual average prices reported by PerthNow on 23 December 2021 from FuelWatch data. The report identified FastFuel 24/7 as the cheapest non-membership retailer; Costco Perth Airport had a lower average but required membership.

Perth’s most expensive petrol stations in 2021
BP South Fremantle topped the expensive end of PerthNow’s list, with a reported annual average of 158.0 cents per litre. Two other stations close to the top were Ampol Foodary Warnbro at 157.6 cents per litre and Ampol Foodary Morley at 157.5 cents per litre.

How fuel prices moved in Perth during 2021
PerthNow reported that average prices were 26 cents per litre higher than in 2020. It said Perth’s average reached 182.4 cents per litre on 3 and 17 November 2021, and that Better Choice Stratton recorded the daily high of 196.9 cents per litre on 3 November. These are figures and historical context reported by PerthNow, not an independent recalculation here.
The report pointed to a change from a weekly to a fortnightly price cycle, alongside volatility in international prices and supply, as context for the year’s prices. Those factors help explain why a single annual station average should not be treated as a forecast or a current price.

How to check current Perth fuel prices
For a price comparison today, use the official WA FuelWatch service, rather than relying on 2021 rankings. Consumer Protection says FuelWatch displays standard cash prices and covers every fuel retailer in Western Australia.
- Open FuelWatch and compare the listed prices for sites near your destination or route.
- Check the date and the fuel type shown, then consider location and travel costs as well as the displayed price.
- Remember that retailers notify their next-day prices by 2pm. The next day’s prices appear after 2:30pm and are locked for 24 hours from 6am, according to Consumer Protection guidance.
WA’s price-notification rules give motorists a predictable window to compare: the announced price applies for the 24-hour period from 6am. Consumer Protection described FuelWatch as a free service in its November 2021 guidance. Its October 2021 notice also described a redesigned site with an interactive map for finding fuel sites and prices.

What the 2021 ranking can—and cannot—tell you
- Useful for: a historical comparison of the annual averages attributed to these named stations, including whether Costco required membership.
- Not useful for: identifying the cheapest station right now, predicting what a listed station will charge on a particular day, or proving that the same prices were available to every driver.
- Best next step: compare current site-level prices on FuelWatch before buying.
