What happened to the Perth Powerball winner?
The original “yet to come forward” report was accurate when PerthNow published it at 9:43am on 25 October 2024. Later that day, PerthNow reported that Lotterywest had contacted the registered winner that morning and confirmed the player’s identity. The winner had not remained unidentified; their name was not disclosed. PerthNow’s initial report and same-day update give the two stages of the story.
Where was the winning ticket sold?
Lotterywest first described the ticket as purchased in the Perth metropolitan area and withheld the store’s location to protect the player. What were the winning numbers?
For the Thursday 24 October 2024 Powerball draw, the numbers were 33, 5, 8, 22, 14, 9 and 1, with Powerball 2. The WA ticket won the entire $30 million Division One prize and was the only Division One winner across Australia. How did the winner claim the prize?
Because the ticket was registered to a Lotterywest Membership, Lotterywest could identify and contact the registered player. PerthNow reported that the winner did not need to go to Lotterywest headquarters in Subiaco to validate the win, and payment was not made until two weeks after the draw. Lotterywest’s reported rule gave the rightful winner one year from the draw date to claim the prize. PerthNow’s follow-up
This was the process for this registered ticket. The reports do not establish the steps that would have applied to an unregistered paper ticket, so the registered-ticket procedure should not be assumed to cover every claim.

What else was reported about the win?
Lotterywest said the three-week jackpot run contributed $5.9 million to its grants program — Lotterywest, 2024. The winner’s name, whether the ticket represented a family or informal syndicate, and how the prize was spent were not reported.
