How much did the Perth couple win?
PerthNow reported on 11 December 2025 that the unnamed couple won $15 million in an Oz Lotto draw. The report described them as a husband and wife in their 40s, living north of the river in Perth. It did not identify the draw number or winning numbers, and it did not link to an official result for the prize. The account of the win and the couple’s plans below is therefore attributed to PerthNow, rather than presented as an independently verified draw record.
Why did they tell their children they had won only $15,000?
The wife told PerthNow they wanted their children to understand that money does not mean everything and that people must work hard in life. The report quoted her saying: “We won’t retire and we’ve told our kids that we won $15,000.” She added: “Money doesn’t mean everything and we want our kids to understand they must work hard in life like we have.”
How did they choose their numbers, and how did they find out?
According to PerthNow, the wife usually bought a randomly generated Slikpik ticket but chose the couple’s favourite numbers for this draw. The report does not suggest that choosing favourite numbers improved their chances; it is simply how the couple reportedly made their selection.

The husband checked the ticket and called Lotterywest to confirm the result, the report said. The wife also described an initial check with an AI chat service: “It said no at first … I had got so excited but then my heart sank.”
What did the couple plan to do with the prize?
The couple reportedly planned to clear their mortgage and take a family holiday. The wife said they would enjoy a “fancy hotel and lots of shopping” on their next trip. Despite the win, the couple said they did not intend to retire.

What did Lotterywest say about community funding?
PerthNow attributed two community-funding figures to Lotterywest spokeswoman Zoe Wender: she said WA Oz Lotto ticket sales had generated more than $92 million for WA community groups through grants, and that a $2 million Lotterywest grant was supporting redevelopment of the Sorrento Surf Lifesaving Club. These figures are statements reported by PerthNow, not independently corroborated figures here. Wender said the redevelopment would help the club expand its lifesaving and water-safety services in Perth’s northern suburbs.
