- Check whether your business fits the stated audience. Perplexity’s launch announcement addressed large retailers interested in sharing product specifications. It did not define “large” with a revenue, sales, or catalog-size threshold.
- Look for a current application route. The announcement’s instruction was to fill out a signup form, after which Perplexity would follow up with more information. It did not provide a direct form URL in the accessible text.
- Verify the destination before submitting business information. The official merchants page currently redirects to a Perplexity Computer signup page for an ecommerce operations product. That destination does not show merchant-program application instructions.

Those are features described in the launch announcement, not a guarantee that every feature or term is currently available to new applicants. The announcement did not publish a product-feed format, required fields, integration instructions, review timeline, or approval criteria.
Does joining guarantee product placement or checkout?
No. The launch announcement said participation could increase the chance of a product recommendation; it did not promise placement. Checkout is a separate matter: Perplexity’s Instant Buy help page says eligibility depends on compatibility with Perplexity’s checkout experience, and orders are fulfilled directly by merchants. Applying to the merchant program should not be treated as approval for Instant Buy or as guaranteed checkout access.

Is Shopify’s Perplexity connector the same program?
No. Shopify’s Perplexity connector documentation describes a store-management tool for a Shopify store the user already owns. Available actions depend on the access and permissions granted. It is not described as enrollment in Perplexity’s merchant program.

- Whether Perplexity is currently accepting merchant applications and which official URL leads to the form.
- What business-size or other eligibility rules apply.
- Which catalog fields, feed format, or technical integration are required.
- Whether any stated benefits—including indexing, recommendations, API access, a dashboard, or checkout integration—are currently offered to the applicant.
- Any current fees, review steps, and terms. The launch announcement called the program free, but does not establish today’s terms.
