PayPal Links are one-time links for sending or requesting money—not cryptocurrency. PayPal.Me is a separate, persistent personalized page, while crypto transfers are a separate account feature with their own eligibility, supported assets, networks, and fees. The options available depend on your country and account.
What PayPal Links do
PayPal Links let you create a link for a specific money transfer or request in the PayPal app. You need a PayPal account to create one. A recipient opens the link and logs in to PayPal.com or the app to accept the transfer or pay the request. Each link is for one use. See PayPal’s US instructions for creating and using PayPal Links.

How to create and share a PayPal Link
- Log in to the PayPal app and open Send/Request.
- Choose the link option, enter an amount, and, if you wish, add a note or select a currency.
- Choose Send or Request. If sending, select whether the payment is for goods and services or friends and family, choose a payment method, and review the details.
- Create the link and share it privately with the intended recipient.
Creating a link is free, but the payment made through it may have applicable transaction fees. International transactions may involve international fees and currency-conversion spreads, and availability depends on supported locations. Check the fees shown for your account and transaction before confirming.
Expiry, cancellation, and sharing safely
An unclaimed link expires after 10 days if it has not been accepted, paid, or canceled. The sender can cancel a link while it remains unclaimed. PayPal warns that anyone with access to a link may be able to use it, so share it only with the intended person through a secure channel. Verify the recipient before confirming: a completed payment cannot be canceled simply because the link went to the wrong person. Details are in PayPal’s PayPal Links help.

PayPal Links vs. PayPal.Me
Both can help people send or collect money, but they serve different purposes. A PayPal Link is created for a specific transaction and is single-use. PayPal.Me is a personalized URL and page that helps others identify the account holder and request, collect, or send payments. A PayPal.Me page can show a name, profile photo or logo, and the town or city associated with the account. PayPal describes the service in its PayPal.Me terms and US PayPal.Me FAQ.

US PayPal.Me handle rules
PayPal’s US FAQ says an account can have one PayPal.Me link, the handle can be up to 20 alphanumeric characters, and it generally cannot be changed after creation. These are US FAQ details, not universal rules; check PayPal’s current information for your location.

PayPal crypto is a separate feature
PayPal’s US crypto help describes buying, holding, selling, and transferring supported cryptocurrency through PayPal accounts. Eligible confirmed personal accounts in the US and US territories can send and receive crypto, subject to asset, network, and regional restrictions. PayPal’s US crypto help outlines the feature and eligibility.
The PayPal Links materials describe money payments and requests; they do not identify cryptocurrency as a PayPal Link payment type. Do not treat a PayPal Link as a crypto transfer. For an external crypto transfer, PayPal says a blockchain network fee applies and is shown before the transfer; the amount varies. Confirm that both the destination address and network are supported and compatible. An incompatible transfer can result in the crypto being lost.

What to check before using one
- For a money link, confirm the amount, currency, recipient, and payment type before creating or paying it.
- Share a PayPal Link only with the intended recipient; anyone who gets access may be able to use it.
- Check applicable transaction fees and location availability in your PayPal account before sending money.
- For crypto, check that your account, asset, destination address, and network are eligible, and review the displayed network fee before confirming.
