That was the number already participating in the program’s second batch—not the total selected: 1,700 graduates had been selected through digital balloting at the end of March, and some were still completing reporting formalities.
How many graduates were selected, and how many had joined?
The April 17, 2026 APP report distinguishes between selection and joining. A total of 1,700 graduates had been selected by digital balloting at the end of March. More than 1,300 had joined by the report date; the remaining selected graduates were still completing reporting formalities. The 1,300-plus figure is therefore a progress count for the second batch, not its final total or the number selected.
The report said the placements covered more than 60 public and private employers, including provincial governments, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. It also reported that all 300 seats reserved for graduates from Balochistan had been filled at that time. APP’s April 17 report provides the dated figures.
What does the GET placement involve?
PEC describes GET as practical, on-the-job experience for fresh engineering graduates. For the second batch described by APP, the six-month program comprised five months of field experience followed by one month of skills development. The reported monthly stipend was PKR 50,000, and participants were to receive a QR-verified completion certificate.

PEC Chairman Engr. Waseem Nazir described the aim as developing trainees’ technical and interpersonal skills through real-world training. This is a statement of program purpose, not evidence that participants are guaranteed permanent employment. The published figures do not establish post-training hiring rates or long-term employment outcomes.
What did the later 2026 update report?
A separate APP report dated September 4, 2026 described skills training for 1,400 trainees from the 2025-graduate cohort. The trainees were divided into two groups of 700, scheduled for September and October. This is a later cohort and phase update; it does not revise the April report’s second-batch figures.
The September report said training centers were in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad and Quetta. Listed topics included communication, emotional intelligence, executive presence, stress management, business writing, public speaking, conflict resolution, stakeholder management, critical thinking, time management, innovation and engineering ethics.
