Managed service providers (MSPs) helped shape parts of Pax8’s marketplace roadmap, according to Rob Rae, the company’s senior vice president of community and partner experience. In a September 2025 interview, Rae said partner suggestions prompted roadmap redesigns and described Pax8’s goal of bringing more marketplace features, tools and partner programs into one experience.
How MSP feedback influenced Pax8’s roadmap
“Partner feedback is always critical,” Rae told CRN. He said some partner ideas led Pax8 to redesign parts of its roadmap, including aspects of the marketplace refresh introduced in June 2025. That account comes from Rae’s interview; the available coverage does not independently verify the changes or detail each redesign.
The feedback sits within a broader effort to make marketplace transactions useful for both MSPs and their customers. Rae said, “Creating a place that makes it easy for MSPs to transact, and for their customers to transact through them, just makes sense.”
From marketplace access to fuller feature adoption
Rae said some partners had moved to the marketplace without using all of its features. Pax8’s response, as he described it, was to emphasize best practices and help partners discover and use more of the available tools—not simply to onboard them.

Rae also said Pax8’s partner count had grown from around 35,000 to 42,000 by the time of the 2025 interview, with new partners onboarding directly into the marketplace experience. Those are figures he gave in the interview; no independent audit or measurement method was provided.
The intended marketplace: tools and partner programs together
Rae described a centralized experience that would bring together marketplace transactions and resources such as professional services, partner rewards and guided growth. The aim was to make the marketplace a broader operating environment for MSPs, rather than only a place to find and transact for cloud software.

He framed the approach around Pax8’s focus on the channel: “This is what we do best. This is the only thing we do. And it makes sense to build partnerships around that.”
AI-agent training was a plan, not a confirmed current offer
In the interview, Rae previewed a training track intended to help MSPs build AI agents. He said, “If this is successful, we’ll package it up and take it global.” The statement described a planned track and a conditional expansion; the sources available do not confirm whether it launched or remains available.

What the marketplace page establishes today
Pax8’s current marketplace page describes a cloud software marketplace for MSPs and vendors, displays software categories and invites vendors to apply. That establishes current marketplace context, but it does not independently confirm Rae’s 2025 roadmap statements or show that Pax8 offers an affiliate or referral program.
