Haggis is a screenwriter, director and producer whose credits include Crash, Million Dollar Baby and James Bond films. Those credits help explain why a large estimate may circulate, but credits alone do not reveal what he earned, retained, invested or owes.
Why the $25 million figure is not a net-worth estimate
In November 2022, the Associated Press reported that Haggis estimated he had earned as much as $25 million over four decades in television and film. He described that figure as earnings before taxes, agents’ and other representatives’ fees, and asset splits with his two former wives. It is reported gross career income—not a current balance sheet or a statement of money remaining.

At the time, Haggis also said outside court, “I’ve spent all the money I have at my disposal. I’ve gutted my pension plan, I’ve lived on loans, in order to pay for this case in a very naïve belief in justice.” That was his statement in November 2022, not independent verification of his finances now. Plaintiff’s attorney Ilann Maazel disputed Haggis’s credibility during the proceedings; his assertion was an advocate’s position, not a judicial finding about Haggis’s net worth. What the court records say about earlier finances
A 2023 New York court decision recounts financial evidence from specific earlier dates. For example, it refers to more than $2.6 million in a Schwab retirement account in 2018, up to $2.9 million in that account in 2019, and more than $2.5 million as of January 31, 2023. It also discusses a $5.5 million West Broadway property sale in 2019 and evidence valuing Mercer Street property at roughly $4.2 million.
