Was July 31 the deadline for every taxpayer?
No. July 31, 2026 was reported as the due date for ordinary individual cases and other categories covered by that deadline. Economic Times reported later dates for certain business and audit cases, citing a due-date table that referenced Khaitan & Co. Treat those dates as reporting about the 2026 filing calendar, not guidance for another assessment year; taxpayers should check the applicable official notice for their own case.
