Outspoken reported in June 2024 that Perth influencer Em Davies listed a couch on Facebook Marketplace for $900. The podcast described it as filthy; hosts later revisited the story and recalled cleaning a couch before a prospective buyer came to view it. The available episode material documents coverage and discussion, not a formal endorsement of Davies or a confirmed sale.
What Outspoken reported about the listing
Outspoken’s 23 June 2024 episode listing identifies the programme as Season 3, Episode 306, hosted by Amy Taeuber, Kate Taeuber and Sophie Taeuber. Its description says Davies listed a “filthy couch” on Facebook Marketplace for $900. The show’s episode page repeats the summary.
The original Marketplace advertisement is not available in these sources. Its photographs, the couch’s model, age and dimensions, and the exact condition wording in the ad therefore cannot be independently checked. The $900 figure is the reported asking price, not evidence of what a buyer ultimately paid.
What the hosts later recalled
In a later Outspoken transcript, the hosts referred back to the segment as a story about Davies trying to sell a stained white couch. They recalled that the Facebook ad had been honest about its condition. That is the hosts’ retrospective description; it is not an independently inspected copy of the original listing.

The hosts also recounted taking a photo that made the couch look filthy, using an older photo from when they bought it, and attracting interest. They said they used a portable upholstery cleaner, removed the cushion covers and washed them in a bath with laundry detergent, then put them in a dryer. In their account, the couch looked like new afterward. The transcript does not identify the cleaner’s brand or model.
Was the couch sold?
The later account says a woman came to view the couch and was expected to collect it later. It does not confirm that the collection took place or that the sale was completed. The evidence supports saying that Outspoken covered the listing and later revisited the story—not that Davies definitely sold the couch.
